I misplaced, somehow, the screw for my 442's VZ grips. I called VZ to see if they would sell me a replacement, and the answer was "no."

So, since the stock screw will not work, anyone find a nice screw, or am I just "screwed?"

Sure wish I hadn't lost it, sure wish VZ would just sell me another stainless screw.....

Just take the grip to a local hardware store and find a stainless one that fits, my local hardware store has a huge selection of stainless, chrome and brass screws. put them on the gun first and measure the distance and if you have to get one on the long side and trim it back.

Years ago, the grip screw on the old Uncle Mike's grips
S&W used to put on their J Frames started to rust.
And the screw was not on the side facing my body,
but on the outer side (right front pocket-screw facing away).
I called S&W Customer Service
and asked if I could buy a replacement screw.
The lady checked and came back on the phone and said
they didn't have replacement screws to sell.
But she said it shouldn't have happened.
She asked for my address and sent me a new grip.
That's right. A whole new grip packaged with a new screw.
THAT is what I call Customer Service.
What you got is the opposite and they should be called out
for how you were treated.

Yeah, I didn't think asking VZ to buy a screw for a set of $75. grips would result in "no" as a response. I mean, I get I can go to the hardware store, and that is apparently what Ill end up doing but I expected more from VZ than a response from customer service suggesting I buy 1911 screws for my revolver, and after explaining again the screw was for the J frame grip being told basically I was on my own.

Anyway, thanks for the advice, I was hoping someone would say they found the equivalent, somewhere, easy. $75. bucks for grips on a J frame I kind of want them to be like they were new. No big deal I guess.

By the way, the grips are nice, customer support, well, not so much.

Good point, would they suggest you take a grinder and sanding wbeel to them? "Well sir, just make them fit...."

Or if they send you grips for the wrong gun, and you call to have them swapped for.the correct grip, tbey suggest instead just going out and buying the gun to fit the grips sent in error? :-)

Could be a good excuse....

No, you are not screwed. VZ is screwed when word gets around that they will not stand behind a screw in their grips, which amounts to poor customer service. S&W would send out small parts for free and not even ask for postage, and I have seen posts where they still do that in some cases. I mean, really - is this screw of this VZ company so valuable that they have them shipped "just in time" in the exact quantity they need to make the exact number of grips they produce that week? That idea is laughable.

Spread the word a little, and these unfortunate people may see a down turn in sales, which is called "market" economics as customers vote with their dollars.

What a bunch of creeps.

Strongly worded post to follow.

If you could get me the length, thread size and head diameter I might be able to make you one out of stainless. I have made a bunch if them for grips that I have done for myself.

PM me if you would like me to try.
