Best review for 629 Stealth Hunter

I had seen that and really enjoyed it. The guy is certainly enthusiastic and obviously having a great time. Notice he got the SH so hot he couldn't get the cylinder unjammed until he let it cool down.

I often shoot 100-200 rounds in a session with mine and it never gets past "warm". Maybe it was really hot weather for him and he's out in the blazing sun with a black gun. I suppose that would sure add to the gun's temp.

I don't speak Spanish (except the basics) but that was the most enthusiastic review. He did get that cylinder locked up. I would love to see a review of yours as I am down to a list of three 629's and I am only picking one. There are not that many youtubs on that gun.

I wonder if this person is in Mexico or the US? A .44mag is illegal to own in Mexico. People can own a gun for home defense, but only up to .38, as I understand the laws in Mexico.

The Mexican government, to include the military, are quick to blame their crime problem on our Constitutionally guaranteed access to firearms.

I have sure been enjoying my SH. We worked over the trigger and it has a very light crisp 2 1/2lb single action pull, and very smooth and light 8 1/2lb double action pull.

We've shot it on my Ransom Rest (best six shot group at 25yards was about 5/8"), used an Aimpoint Micro H1 red dot and a Bushnell 2-6X scope on it, and it shines in every mode. We've used it to hit little 16oz water bottles at 100 yards (from bags), and it's mostly one bullet, one disappeared bottle.

I also bought a Ruger Bisley Hunter. It is inferior to the SH in every way except for strength. I bought it because I wanted to shoot some of those nasty Buffalo Bore 340gr loads, and it handles them well. It seems about as accurate as the SH, but it's way more punishing to shoot. Because of the "traditional" shape Bisley grips I have to be really careful and use a grip that feels weak and awkward to me or my fingers and knuckles get whacked. No problem like that with the SH, it's very comfortable and natural-feeling in my hand.

I doubt I will hang on to the Ruger long. I've shot a box of those BB 340s, and yeah, they kick pretty good and they are super accurate, but heck, I shoot paper and bottles full of water. I don't need that kind of punishment to shoot that stuff.

I guess I have to also consider I could buy 2 1/2 of the Rugers for the price of the Smith, so I expect more and get more out of the Smith.

Good review. What is the biggest bullet you can shoot out of the S&W?

The biggest bullet I have shot out of my SH is 300 grain Hornady XTP.
