BEST Concealed Carry Revolver

360pd, because I put it on and forget it's there.
Until you pull the trigger and if it is loaded with any 357 or even a stout 38 Special defensive load make damn sure you hit with the first round as you won't want to fire off a second or the flinch will be so bad you ain't gonna hit Jack IMHO. Get a good steel J frame where the inherent 'shootiability' will more than make up for the extra weight. And I am speaking from experience, not theory. David

Dillon Aero M134D ( it revolves :^) ) or else my 649-3 if I can't wear clothing with a large enough pocket for the Dillon

Carry the 642 at present but have a new 340 and not the courage to handle the rage it will produce when fired.

This would do nicely as a primary.

My EDC is a no-lock 642-1, loaded with Speer 135gr SB-GDHP, and carried in a Side Guard Holsters Quick Clip IWB holster. It's stock except for a set of Spegel boot grips. I'd love to get another 642.

It's got some finish wear from repeatedly drawing and holstering it, as well as from my hands. It looks really bad on the back strap. The finish on the grips is also pretty worn.

My "grail gun" has been a no-dash 640 for quite some time. Every time I've gotten close to getting one it got away. A no-lock DAO 649 would also work.

I love K-frame snubs. I really miss my DAO 2" 64 with a bobbed hammer. I used PGS Hideout stocks and kept it loaded with Buffalo Bore 158gr LSWCHP (standard pressure).

That is what its there for. Anything that is used is going to show wear. Especially, a 642.

Another 442 fan.Ive carried it for years both on and off duty and now retired. Its always comfortable and it just feels right.

My CCR is a Ruger LCR 38spl+P. If the police make me drop it on concrete or "fail" to give it back, I won't be too P.O.'d. On the other hand, if they told me to drop my 686, they'd have to shoot me!

Interesting topic.

I'm not a big fan of J frames for SD. I have one but it's a night stand gun. I have decided that my model 36 is a 15 yd gun at best. I want an honest to god 25 yd gun for SD. That would be my model 19 (2.5"). It's a little snappy with 158 gr loads but manageable. A model 19 or 66 for me is the perfect carry. After that it's a 1911.

As I frequently say in person : There is no such thing as *Best* , only Different.

About 2/3 of this thread has been discussing Best Pocket Gun. An interesting discussion on its own merit , but to me is different from best *Carry Gun*

For a primary revolver , I still remain in my lust affair with 2in RB K Frames . A 2.5 M16/66 or 2.75in Speed Six also good choices. I know of the popularity of , and all the intellectually good properties of 3in Kframes , but I just don't like the feel of them. YMMV

Given a collection offering a range of selection, the "best" seems determined by my choice of what to actually carry.

Six shooter preferred
Light for caliber and 3-4" barrel
Grip not too prominent

Been carrying a Ruger SP101 with 32 H&R. Have 3" and 4.2", both nominally 327 Federal.
Smaller is my 32 S&W Long, Smith 30-1 3".

38 Specials are hard to beat but hold only 5 rounds in the compact guns.
