29-5 / 629 with RMR using RM 46 mount?

Just about to jump in with both feet on this optic for my 29-5.

Can someone show me an example of their similar revolver using this mount and sight? Particuarly interest in photos that show how wide the sight is on the top strap, how low it mounts etc.

I know it will wreck the looks of the gun. But deer in the freezer come before a collector's idea of how a gun ought to look! My eyes don't like iron sights as much as they used to.

This is not a Mod. 29 or N Frame, but is a K Frame with a Burris FastFire III on an Allchin Mount. The FasFire III comes in either a 3 MOA or 8 MOA dot, and for hunting I would opt for the 8 MOA being easier to pick up outdoors in wooded type backgrounds. There are numerous different types of Red Dot sights, but I would recommend this type (also made by Leupold, and a half dozen other makers) over the tube type. Especially for holster carry for hunting. At least it gives you an approximate of what it would look like.

I have three set up the same way with the FF III and really have nothing but good words for the set up.

Ah, I am glad you touched on this open reflex type sight, versus the tube type (Aimpoint, Scopes, etc.)

I will have it in a chest holster, probably Simply Rugged, and I had to believe this would be much less cumbersome than a large tube optic as well.

The RMR I only wish would have the Triangle reticle with more size options. It is a 13 moa Triangle, but I think I'll try it anyway. Figure if a guy has time to really aim, I can sight in with the top of the triangle being the POA/POI.

Hoping the RMR and Trijicon's RM46 mount is about the lowest profile way to go. I'd also be happy with anything from Leupold generally.

625PP .45 Colt, but the big difference is that you will have to drill and tap your topstrap as the 29-5 is pre-'94. One of the best and surely most rugged of the microreddots. Mine's held up over many rounds of competitive shooting.

How wide is the RMR compared to the top strap of the gun? Looks like it ends up being mounted pretty low which is good.

My 29-5 is already drilled and tapped. I have to assume its a factory job but I am second owner so cannot be sure.

Dimensional specs likely on Trijicon web site. But it's less wide than the cylinder or roughly the same width as this Fastfire cover above the 657 shown below:

Thank you. I finally found LxWxH dimension on a Trijicon pdf from 2013. Assuming the current ones are no different, it says the RMR is 1.20'' wide. So that goes along with what you said, not quite as wide as the cylinder.

Just have to send measurements to Simply Rugged so I guess it doesn't matter too much, just curious how cumbersome it is going to be.

As far as using it, not cumbersome at all. Holsters may another matter. Pancakes would be right out...
