I recently purchased a model 57-1 in .41 magnum with a 6" barrel and I have access to 200 yards at my range. At 50 yards it appears to still be shooting pretty flat and at 100 it looked to be around 6 or so inches low.
I prefer to shoot the Keith style by raising my front sight from the rear. Does anyone else shoot like this and have any idea how much sight should be raised at that distance?
Yes,
And it's about has much fun as you can have with your clothes on!
If your gun has a red ramp, try the bottom of the insert level with top of rear blade. That is always my starting point with any new gun and or load.
I did what the above poster suggested, used the bottom of the red ramp as a starting point, when I shot gallon jugs at 100 yards with this S&W 66-2. However, with my S&W 1006 or Glock 31 I just hold at the top of the target.
Here is a 50 yard bullseye with a group of three off to the way left. I wondered if the bullseye was the mistake and the group was poi
Then shooting at 100 gave these results. The bullseyes are rifle and the lower 2 are .41. That was aiming as normal to see how much drop I'd need to compensate for and I was surprised by how flat the .41 was.
