Smoking deal
It looks really nice and of course it fits right in with the rest of them.
I'm thinking the rubbers are original?
Congrats brother

Thanks Chris. You may be right on the rubber. I need to open up the SCSW. I need to start reloading my own! I think my brother in law is getting tired of feeding my addiction...

It gets old, I go through phases at the bench. Sometimes it's fun sometimes it's work. I've been wanting that book for a long time, just might pull the trigger when the 4th comes out. Right now I just use my memory, it's been known to be wrong a time or two

I just checked "The Book" and you were right Chris. The dash 6 model is when the factory began shipping with the Hogues. It also mentions a Masterlock trigger lock included beginning in 97 that came with the gun too. Thanks man!

WHAT, you don't roll your own yet??!! you're BIL must be a kind soul.
Very nice find too! Those targets do it justice just fine.
P.S. I like the reference to Zappa in your signature line

Those are the same rubber Hogues w/ S&W logo that came on my 629-6 from the factory. Yours may be original to the gun after all.
Nicely purchased for sure. I never find anything locally.

I also have a 29-6 6" and it did indeed come with factory rubber grip and a Master lock. I just recently found a set of round to square conversion stocks by Ahrends on GB. I like the looks of them much better. I need to get a new photo with the new stocks on it.

Very good find. I like those late '90s revolvers. But they're mostly stainless. A 29 with the drilled and tapped topstrap is on my "want list". Or a 25-9 .45 Colt (minus the factory gouged bore that was in my first one.)
A contemporary 586:
And a circa 1997 657, that gets dulled down (and fitted with the optical sight of the month) for sneaking about the deer woods from time to time:
If you like toppling steel, reloading is likely in your future. Mostly so's you can shoot more!

That's a nice set up you got there iron worker. I actually have gotten a start on piecing together a Dillon rig. I'm hoping by the end of the month to be cranking out my own boolits. I'm looking forward to the learning curve.

I'm confused. How did you get from $419 + $5 BGC fee to "walking out the door only $700 lighter" on this one? Did you get a second gun for the $276 difference? Or did you pay more than what the lady was asking for the gun?

Zoom in on the 1st pic in the original post. The $419 was what the original owner paid in Jan 1988. Not a bad investment.

I picked-up (couple of years ago) a 29-6 made in 1998 that came with the"rubber hogues" ...... these are great shooting revolvers. Mine is very accurate and I love the fact that it has the endurance package and no internal-lock.
You scored on a very nice gun. Shoot it lots and enjoy.
Don

Sweet 29-6 !
I missed this post initially, the indicator the stocks are OE Hogues is the S&W rubber TM's and should right side cutout ,
Some early rubber SB to RB Hogues even have nickel S&W medallions where aftermarket Hogues usually have a high right shoulder and a Hogue TM.
IMO you should put a pait of Culina RB to SB conversion FG combats on that puppy !
Have a 29-5 classic 5" and a 29-6 Mountain Gun both with top notch fit and finish that are at the top of my favorite .44 Mags.

Are you familiar with the record "Strictly Commercial"? The tune that he wrote about Bobby Brown is hilarious!
