I am thinking of getting a compensator for my 629 44 caliber magnum. Has anyone had any experience with a compensator on a .44 maganum?
Ridge--l have a 629 Light Hunter that l really like.Has a low mounted 2x Leupold EER.l allowed mr 75vette shoot it last year in Gainesville..He liked it WAY too much and shot it Way too well.I recently got a almost new, very lightly used, 7.5 inch 629 Light Hunter. It is a current model in the S&W line up and has a compensator built in. I shot it at the range last week and liked it a lot. I compared it with my 8 3/8 inch 629 PC Hunter. I put a hundred or so rounds through them at a 25 yard range. I can't say I noticed much difference between them but I was shooting my reloads which I load pretty mild for fun at the range. I think I'll have to try some fully loaded magnum rounds to see if the comp has much effect. I'll try it next trip to the range.
