I have a wonderful 617 4" (no lock), and would like to be able to dry-fire like I do my centerfire revolvers, but am concerned about not having durable snap caps in .22. Any suggestions ?

I have a 617 6". I use plastic wall anchors available at HW stores and on-line. I got mine at Amazon prime free delivery.
Size: 4-6-8 x 7/8", yellow ones. They fit great, very durable and run about $7 for a box of 100.

I actually don't use them for dry firing but a couple years ago I purchased a box of 100 #4-6 x7/8" ribbed plastic anchors from Home Depot. Seems like it was around $5 Crown Bolt brand, yellow part #54772.
I had tried a couple other variations of dry wall anchors that did not fit but this size will. Never have bought any snap caps but I don't dry fire my .22 revolvers regardless.
Looks like the current sizing is 4-6-8x7/8" like revolver ph wrote.
