Probably the ideal S&W iteration of the .45 Colt!

Light and well-balanced, chambered for a potent cartridge with classic lines and modern construction...the S&W M25-15!

What do other's think of this "New Classic" take on the M25?

As for me, the revolver is amazingly well-balanced and light "feeling" in the hand. Recoil with factory ammo is a complete non-event. Clearly the gun can handle much more potent loads on a limited basis.
I love the firing pin in frame and hammer block system, as well as the updated locking mechanism.

This gun can easily handle "hotter" loads, but is ideal for standard factory .45 fodder!

This revolver is a direct descendant of the original N-frames and worthy of the name without any doubt.

Welcome to the Smith & Wesson Forum.

In general I like the "New Classics" from S&W and other new S&W offerings.

You'll soon figure out you opened a can of worms in regards to liking newer S&W models due to the little hole (IL = internal lock) near the thumbpiece (i.e. cylinder release latch) and some will cite quality control as a reason to dislike new S&W revolver products.

I cannot argue with any of your observations.

I really like my 25-15. I have found it much better to shoot with genuine S&W stocks. They fit/feel much better to me. I currently have Herrett Shooting Star, skip checkering stocks on it. (better yet) Bob

I like the long tapered barrel on this model. I'm surprised Smith did that, but I love it. I'm yet to buy one, but really like how that gun balances in my hand.

I'm a FFL and just got in a new S&W 25 Classic today. I am not impressed. The grips have a wide gap at the butt and front of the grip. Both the single action and double action pulls are terrible. If I could figure out how to post some pics, I would. My customer has pretty much walked away from the deal. Got an email off to S&W. We shall see what happens.

I don't remember the fit of the supplied S&W stocks on my 25-15 that I bought used in 2014. I just did not like the feel of them. I replaced them with 70-80's genuine targets. It feels, looks, & shoots better with them on it. I do not have any complaints about the action of mine. I never claimed to be an expert though. Bob

I'm in love with the 45 Colt and S&W revolvers.

I had one of these years ago, a 25-5 and it was a dream.

I'm posting to move this to the top to see if anyone else will comment on these new revolvers, I haven't found one in a local store yet to look over.

In my 25-5 I ran standard velocity and my +p version for a 250 keith bullet at @1,000 fps with exceptional accuracy. I didn't run my crazy Ruger only loads through it however.

I have one I bought just a few weeks ago, I noticed the feel of the grips right away and especially after shooting it. The gun itself is great imo, it’s j st the grips that need to be replaced and I have a set of Coke’s ordered from eagle grips. In the meantime I just recieved some of the big target grips like the ones on my model 29. I think this will improve the feel of the gun. Also, the blueing on this gun is remarkable and gorgeous to look at. Double and single action pull feels fine to me.

I don't have a 25-15, but I have a few new Smith revolvers. IMO the frame mounted firing pin is most definitely not a selling point. I can tolerate the lock, but after getting a 686 PC that has terrible problems with misfires, I'm not enthusiastic about frame mounted firing pins.

I put Eagle "cokes" on my 6" 24-6......They feel good and look great!

I love my Model 625-9 in 45 Colt. I believe the Model 25-15 would also be a great shooter.

I have Altamont grips on some of my S&W revolvers, but didn't care for them on my Model 625-9 "Mountain Gun" in 45 Colt. Damn things bit into the base of my shooting hand thumb. I tried rounding the edge but still was not comfortable. I then went back to the original Hogue black rubber grips.

Thanks for looking at my Mountain Gun.

God bless,

Another happy 25-15 owner. It shoots as well or better than my 25-5s. Cast bullets, either traditional or HiTech coated are quite accurate. Even swaged bullets work. No need for jacketed projectiles in the .45 Colt!

Mike, how big are the eagle grips compared to the older target grips? The coke grips they make .

I don't own one of the new Classics, but they sure picked a good grouping of revolvers to translate into the new Classics.

I do have a Model 25-13 Mountain Gun which was announced at the 2004 SHOT Show as a limited run stocking dealer special. I hope you like yours as well as I do mine. It does have the IL, and I have no interest in letting it go.
