Stopped into my local gun store today to "browse". There in the case looking at me was a blued 27-3, 6 inch barrel, in really nice condition, marked at $550. I asked if they were firm, they said take it home for $500. No box or accessories, just the gun, but I'm pretty happy to add a "nice" .357 to my collection.

My nicest .357 I own is an old police trade in model 65, so this is a nice step up.

Serial starts with AUZ1xxx. Anyone know when this thing was made? Is it a desirable model? Thanks.

That sounds like a steal to me! I'm going to take a SWAG after looking at the SCSW and say 86-87

Wow that's the kind of deals I am on the lookout for. Beautiful gun in very nice shape!! As they say, any N frame for $500 is a grat deal. Enjoy

Your 27-3 looks a lot better than the one I picked up several years ago. As a plus yours has the target grips. A very nice find at an excellent price!

Target grips? I'm a NEWB when it comes to this stuff. The grips are desirable?

Your gun is wearing the target grip we call the speed loader cutout stock. They were introduced around 1980. Previous target stocks had a football style cutout that interfered with speedloaders.

Yours also have good wood to metal fit, which does not always happen at the top of the stock.

That is a very nice gun at a very good price! Congratulations.

Very nice STEAL Bubba! Take a look on Fleabay and you'll see real quick that, yes, the stocks are valuable. There's no telling how many of them were thrown in the trash to be replaced by Pachmayrs back in the day. Congrats!!

To my mind any 27 in nice shape is a valuable model.
For $500 you did quite well!
I've been looking for a 27 I can afford for a while.
That one would have came home with me in a heartbeat.

Hey Bubba... That a gold bead on that Patridge front sight?

Could you post a close-up picture of the front sight please?

Nice Model 27
