65-8 question

I don't know. I dug deep back a decade here and it seems that if the factory did it, it will be DAO.
Probably due to liability of decocking it without a spur to use.
Makes sense.
Bear in mind this was not factory info but the consensus of the posters.

I have a bobbed 65-8. but it was an aftermarket bob which left the SA sear intact. I will occasionally cock the hammer to shoot SA at the range just for fun target shooting. But would never cock the hammer for real.

Just bought a 65-8 last week & the internals still allow a single action.
But i cant say if it was factory or aftermarket.
I'm guessing after, but not sure.

AFAIK the Factory did not provide DA only Model 65's. I won't say they NEVER made a few custom ones as per possible request or as an experiment that I don't know about but I am not aware of any production line DA only 65's ever being run off.

That said, I could NEVER understand why anyone would want a DAO Revolver! I can understand possible benefits a bobbed Hammer but WHY wouldn't one want the capability of a SA shot if needed or desired while still accomplishing a non cloth-catching Hammer. I you don't want to shoot SA just pull the trigger - simple. This always puzzled me - but as ew all know....... to each his own.

Chief,

Those who shot competitions such as PPC, are very much used to a double action trigger and most of them in the winners circle never thumb cocked their revolvers. Once you learn how to shoot a revolver double action, there is no sense giving up that advantage.

Here is a Model 25-2 that was converted to DAO. It makes a nice carry piece.
