New 610-3?

I have a NIB 610-3 that was made in the 90’s if I remember right.
Is the new one built exactly like the old one, and is the value of mine reduced now?

The -3 engineering revision of the 610 began sometime after Sat-T-Hammer bought Smith & Wesson in 2001

It is supply and demand.

Now that the supply is back, the price for used examples will drop.

MSRP on a NEW 610 with warranty is $987. Street price on a NEW 610 is in the low to mid $800s.

I would expect used prices of examples in Excellent + condition to be in the $600s to $700s

You have to take into account variations that aren’t produced anymore. Unfluted cylinders and 3 inch barrels will still bring more even though the gun has a lock

What do you think the Value of your Circa '90
S&W 610-3 is worth?

I doubt that the new S&W 610 has hurt anything.
Even new they are hard to find, and you just about
have to be a Reloader to own one.

I have been fortunite to be able to inspect 2 of them.
They were well put to gether, fit, and finish were excellent.
Price; almost MSRP.

I almost bought it, then I came to my Sense's
didn't want to deal with the Moon Clips thingyes.

I have a 610-2 3 7/8 inch barrel that I use in USPSA revolver major. Great shooting gun.
I guess my quandry in asking the first question is if im going to keep a shooter, maybe sell the -2 as it will bring more money than a NIB -3. I paid around $1200 for the -3, but seriously doubt I’ll get more if the new ones are exactly the same. Would the older one have forged parts and the new ones MIM?

Thanks for the correction as to original date of the -3 as being 2001 or so.

I asked initially because I also have a 610-2 that I shoot in USPSA, and only want to keep one to shoot. I paid about $1200 for each. Were the early -3 forged or mim parts? This would increase value of my older NIB. If new and old are considered the same I may as well sell the -2 as it will get good money, and shoot the -3.

If you have one that you like and is a proven good shooter, it would be hard for me to give that up. The guns with MIM internals have the frame mounted firing pin.

Perhaps keep the -2, buy a new -3, use the latter some, then decide. Don't be surprised if you keep both.

You don't have to use moonclips, for casual shooting, if you don't want to.

10mm Auto rounds can be fired individually, & reliabily, in the 610 & empty cases are easily flicked out with your fingernail.

I've shot hundred's like this without issue at the range.

And, just for the heck of it, I trimmed & resized a handfull of 41 Mag cases to 10mm Auto length & shot the 10AR cases with full loads in my 610.

(They still headspace on the case mouth (not the rim) & use a taper crimp, but the extractor easily grabs the rim for ejection.)

They worked fine, it just wasn't worth the extra work to do more.

Shooting them without moonclips or using the "easy to load by hand" polymer Rimz moonclips works fine for me.
