Problems with the Governor?
Hello all,
I had long awaited the return of the Governor at a decent price. They are never to be reasonable gain I guess? Anyway I digress. I picked up one yesterday at Academy Sports. I checked it out before I left the store with it. The cylinder release was a bit tight but I did not think anything about it. When I got it home I could not make it work, hardly at all. Called the SW service dept. They sent me a label and I sent it back today.
Question is; does anyone know if they are having problems with this run of Governors? I ask the nice lady at the service dept. if they were having productions problems and she said they were not and that they had not had any problems with that particular revolver. Have y'all heard of any issues? I am not angry just did not expect this from SW. Get back when you can please?
As an aside, the finish was not all that great. But I was willing to take it since I have wanted one for so long. For what it is worth.
sdg!

I haven't heard of any issues with new Governors. Folks here complain occasionally about issues with various new S&W revolvers but given the thousands of them being made every year an occasional error isn't surprising. I'm sure your Governor will be just fine when it is returned.
As for the Governors in general, until I owned one I thought they were just another bad marketing idea. Still not sure they're a great candidate for a home defense firearm but on the ranch they're hard to beat. The 410 loads are far superior to any 357/44/45 shot load and the ability to use 45 Colt and 45 ACP is convenient too. I carry one with three 410s for snakes and other nuisances and three 45 Colt for bigger stuff. I've killed several skunks with the 410 loads at 15 yards.

I have both the stainless and black. No problems with either.
I'm sure S&W will take credit of you.

Sorry to hear of your governor problem. I'm not aware of any production problems from that line and am sure S&W will take care of it. Keep us posted.
I'm currently on my 2nd one. I didnt think I wanted one until shooting a buds judge. I liked it enough that after running across a used LNIB one, I bought it but due to circumstances of another bud overloading some .45 colt reloads in his dads judge, he talked me out of mine as replacement to his dad. Once again I located another early LNIB and hope to keep this one.
Would you mind sharing how much they retail for now? Thanks and good luck.
