Long Barreled 460 S&W Magnums

The 460 S&W Magnum has been in production since 2005 and have produced a number of models with barrels longer than 8 inches

Several of the long barreled models do not have muzzle brakes which make them a little more pleasant to shoot at the range or in confined areas.
Let start with the shortest of the long barrel and progress to the longest at 14"

Of the long barreled versions which is your favorite to own and shoot? Why?

I'm strongly considering adding a long barreled 460 with scope to the stable and am mostly looking at the 12" because it seems to get the most efficiency from the cartridge and at a certain point none of them are belt guns anymore anyway so why not go a little longer?

Of the long barreled versions which is your favorite to own and shoot? Why?...

I started with a 12" and put my first 10000 rounds or so through it before i shoot any other barrel length.

While I now own all of the S&W produced versions , in the long barrels I still favor the 12" , the lack of a comp is a big plus to me when hunting from a blind or target shooting. That said the 14" uncomped model is also nice in those respects- I just always seem to grap the scoped 12".

Most of my hunting is done with 7.5" barrel length.

I am not sure what you mean by effiency but you will see velocity increase in longer barrels- one of my Ruger #1 sends 200 grain at 3000 fps.

Good luck
with your choice
