I've been tossing this one around for awhile now but PatriotX's 'Dirtied Up 629s' thread gave me the nudge to start this thread. I've always appreciated pictures taken of revolvers that are actually used. Sooty cylinders and frames are like Ginger and Mary Ann after a mud wrestling match. I'd like to see some of y'alls guns at the range or in the woods waiting for that buck to come along. Throw in your targets too if you had a really good day. Here are a few of mine to start.

Look Ma! No fliers! :D

629-6 PC Magnum Hunter Plus

Love those dirty pics!
And that footlong looks like a beast to shoot.

Thanks Lou. With that Leupold on it I'm good for about 10 rounds and can't hold it steady to save my life. I ended up putting a Burris FFIII on it and I'm good for more like 50 rounds. It has an unbelievable trigger and shoots like a laser. This target was at 25 yds.

This is going to be a good one bro!
:D
I’ve got a few older pictures
custom mountain revolver

I had a CCW class with a guy that never shot his revolvers, bucause they got dirty! Silly silly man!

Ivan

What a waste. Like being married to Kate Upton & sleeping in separate bedrooms. Like having a car you're afraid to drive because it might get dirty. Like having a great bottle of whiskey that's never opened. Having a gun you're afraid to shoot might as well be hanging around a rap star's neck.
Now let's see some filthy guns guys!

Scruffy that's impressive!! I don't recall ever seeing a whole barrel sooted up! :D Not too many folks shoot their j frames that much. Wowsers!!

Thank you, I enjoy shooting. My J-frames aren't fun target guns, but they are what I always carry. Becasue of their size and weight (lack of) they require a lot of practice to remain proficient. So they get out a lot. Unfortunately .38 and .38+P has been very difficult to find and when I do it's almost always approx $1/round. For now I keep my range practice to 20-25 rounds once or twice a month.

Unfortunately, I don't own any dirty guns. I clean 'em when I get them home, and they are always perfectly clean and functional.

So I can't offer any pictures. The subject matter doesn't exist in my venue...

John

But yours do get shot. I understand the debate over keeping them clean and just cleaning when they need it. Good points on both sides. I also understand there are certain collectibles too valuable to shoot. I get that too. But unless someone owns a sure enough piece of history, why not get some enjoyment out of it? I own several PC guns that are 1 of 200 and were never shot before I bought them. Changed that and glad I did. I discovered some very accurate and fun to shoot guns.

Wish I had some pre-cleaning pics of my 36. Found it in the Library at Cabelas a few years ago. Looked interesting, no real use marks. Picked it up from the display case floor and there was a stain under in on the green cloth. Cylinder would barely turn, and the grips were soft and greasy. I thought about it, and showed them how bad it was, offered $100 less than marked, and walked out the door with it.

Took the grips off - soaked in lube, I saved them because they are matched to the gun, but they are never going back on it. Dropped the whole gun in a bucket of #9 (I had a couple of bulk bottles from a gun show find). Soaked it three days. Got it completely disassembled, then soaked all the parts in another bucket of #9. Back together after using an entire bag of patches. (I remember that was a football game-length day on the kitchen table.)

Here's the result. Fine 1973 example of a fine line of j's.
