Model 19-5 Frame Question

I have a 1987 shipped model 19-5 with a 2 1/2" barrel listed on a state sale website.
A potential buyer asked about it's frame style, it is a round frame.
My question is, was this model made in 1987 with a 2 1/2" barrel made with a square frame version?

Might I respectfully suggest you take off the grips and look? As for the specifics of your question, I can't help with that.

I think the OP's question is did S&W make a 2.5 inch barrel version with a square butt frame. To this I would say I have never seen such but then I do not profess to be an S&W expert so I will defer to those that are for a definitive answer.
I have the exact same model and it is round butt.

I clearly stated that it is a round frame, my question is was this gun offered with a square frame.

Short answer is no.....
But I'm no expert.
I have seen 2.5 inch square butts but they
were re-barreled 4 inchers.

Something kicks around in my old noodle
that some agency may have special ordered
Smiths in the configuration you mentioned...but I really can't recall.

The Bible Vol. 4 doesn't list a 2-1/2" square butt that I can tell.

So I would say no to a factory one, but anything is possible.

2-1/2" barrel on a M19 was only available on the round butt frame. 3" barrels were rare on M19's, as were 5". 4" and 6" are by far the most common, and those are square butt frames.
