It’s 686 2.5” 6 shot and can be purchased for $650 , a $300 saving difference from the plus model .what all these letters means ? , ss is stainless, Il is internal lock , no idea what rb ,sg , ct , rd … means . @3rdgeargrndrr Already answered many of your questions.

The 6 shot M686 is no different and is the same as the 7 shot M686 other than the fact that the cylinder is 6 shots instead of 7..... The data about the M686 Plus pretty much also applies to the regular M686. I paid over $900 for my 2.5" Plus, but would have went with the 6 round version instead if they were that price at the time.

Nice .. I have 4”. 686-4

To many, the -4 is the zenith of the 686, especially the -4 plus 7 shot, while others prefer the -3 and earlier for the wood combats and flash chromed hammer/trigger. I happen to have a 2.5” -4 plus and a no dash.

Well I guess I am one of the fortunate ones. I have a 686-4 2.5" barrel 7 shooter, Pre-lock. Bought for $299 in 1996. It is my CCW.

Me too! Didn’t know what I had until I got it home from the show and removed the wire tie. Surprise! 7 holes instead of 6. :D
I already had three 2.5 686s, but at $650 I was t leaving it for someone else.

I bought a 686-4 2.5" from gunbroker probably over 10 years ago. When it arrived I was surprised to see it was a 7 shot! At least if I ever sell it should get a little more over the 6 shot version. I need to get that gun out and shoot it more often!
