Hello
I recently aquired a Model 66-2 stainless 357 mag, square grip, in excellent condition. It has a set of aftermarket grips on it. Can anyone give me a picture of what the proper factory supplied when new grip would look like. Also type of wood, etc.
Thank you

I think some had walnut Magna grips but many had Goncalo Alves Target with speedloader cutout.

Is this a three-alpha prefix serial number revolver? I believe that’s the range for a 66-2.

Mine came with Target grips. The adjustable sighted models generally came with Target and the fixed sighted ones came with Magna.

Mine is from 1988 but I bought it used and didn’t get a box with it. I think these were stock but am not sure. 66-2 on the bottom and 629-3 on top.

Yes, it has a three letter prefix.
Thank you for the help.

Posts #3 and #5 are Goncalo Alves Target with Speedloader Cutout

Post #7, top gun is N-frame Goncalo Alves Target and bottom gun is K-frame square butt Combats (and these are -NOT- original equipment on any 66-2)

Well, it appears that my 66-2 has a 0.312 Smooth combat trigger, and a 0.375 semi-target Hammer. With that being said, which grip mentionaed above would be correct?
Thank you in advance for your help, again.

Target grips.
I almost bought an as new in box 4 inch 66-2 some years ago but decided I wanted a 66-1.

The 66-2 came with target grips that still had the round decal on the bottom.

If a 2 1/2" barrel it likely shipped with the magna stocks as in post #4. The 4" and 6" barrels probably had the speedloader cutout target stocks as in posts #3 and #5. Note I say likely and probably - nothing etched in stone, just in my very limited experience.

And you'd be awesome in any barrel length with the optional combat stocks as in post #7!

The standard factory issued grips on a Model 66-2 with a 4 or 6 inch barrel would be checkered target stocks made of Goncalo Alves wood with a speedloader routing on the upper left panel. To my knowledge, NO 4 or 6 inch combat magnum revolvers came with magnas, either squared or plain clothes type. Of course, a special order for magnas is possible, but only a letter would verify that.
