As followup to my posts in another thread re: 629/Classic/DX value, which I might have poached from the OP (sorry abouth that), I took possession of the 629-6 Classic today. Its is clean as I'd assessed. B/C gap is better than I thought I'd measured with the LGS feeler: its 0.003" with both of mine. The gun seems really good overall. It is not built, from a fit standpoint, as well as either a 66-2 of a 686-3 I have, but is pretty good and works as designed. SA trigger is probably 4# and DA #10. Not great but a good place to start. My only concern is a roughly cut forcing cone. Haven't shot it yet to know if this this matters, but might clean it up just because. One way or the other, I think its worth the $800 I had to give, but I've been wrong before. Pics attached.

Nice 629! I thought something looked different from my older Classic and it was the roll marks on one side of the barrel and laser engraving on the other. Can't tell if the trademark on yours is laser engraved or not. Mine is from 2000 and is all laser engraved.

I think you got a great deal on that 629 Classic. Definitely shoot it before messing with the forcing cone.

The trade mark appears lazered to me. Seriel number points to 2016 manufacture.

Another fan of the full underlug here as well. It adds just the right amount of weight for taming recoil on the magnum guns. By the way, I’d give $800 for that one all day long. Enjoy!

I'm pretty happy. Funniest thing is, its the one I lusted after for 25 years but never had the scratch. Then I got "educated" that I should have a 4" instead and although I've been able to afford one for years now, it was just never a priority. I walked away from this gun twice in a weeks time before I realized that is was a good price and that it really is the one I always wanted (the IL not withstanding). Too soon old and too late smart...but lucky.

Sounds like a great deal.
I JUST sold one Friday to a buddy that had bugged me for it for a while. Pre-lock near new with the box.
I got $1,100 for it, but I'd had a non-fluted cylinder fitted, added the rare larger improved rear sight that mounts to the scope mount holes, several different front sight inserts, and it was wearing gorgeous smooth factory finger groove stocks. The original fluted cylinder and rubber grips were included in the deal. I gave $600 for it several years back, then added the accessories.
