Who Packs a 6" N Frame?

629-6 in a Galco Kodiac chest rig for whitetail. In the end, it probably weighs in the same as my REM model seven .308 I think. Use both frequently just depends on which stand is hot.

I carry a 6” 629 in a chest rig when in the woods. Things like treestand maintenance, posting or just hiking and putt’n around on ATV. And yes hunting too.

The only way I’ve been able to carry a 6”N frame comfortably in the field is in the Bianci Cyclone (#111).

Shoulder holsters for 6” N frame revolvers are miserable devices if you’re not 6’4” tall. (Looking at you Clint).

A good friend of mine, retired cop who has sadly left us, used a 6" Model 29 as his EDC.
He was a big barrel chested guy who carried it in a belly band high up on his chest with the gun under his left arm shoulder holster style. Wore western shirts with snaps instead of buttons over it. He could Superman that gun out surprisingly fast.
He keep it loaded with full house magnum ammo too.
When he passed, he left the gun to me. I still have it and will never sell it. ;)

Unless specifically heading out for large dangerous game where a back up might be prudent, I don't see it as viable. My "woods walk gun" has always been a M65 3" RB stoked with Buffalo Bore 180 grain hard cast 357 magnums. 1325 fps out of the 3" bbl. should do pretty much anything I need it to in my neck of the woods.

If I lived in Alaska, a 44 magnum or 500 magnum might fare better, but realistically the 3" M65 is always with me rather than the M29 I left in the car because it was too heavy.
