Welcome aboard!

You’re definitely starting your collection with the right pieces.

The 3” 13-2 is a very desirable carry piece, especially since it’s nickel. I’d polisher her with a little flitz and Ren wax. You gonna carry her?

Welcome to the S&W Forum. That's a nice 3 inch barreled Model 13-2. It shows signs of use, but from the few pictures, I do not think it was abused. Would I carry it? The nickel finish will definitely help prevent rust, the K-frame provides 6 shots of 38 Special or 357 Magnum, and the 3 inch barrel provides a full length ejector rod... yeah, it would be a great carry revolver.

I just look at and polish mine, they are too pretty to carry for me.

It is a later 13-2 with the recessed cylinder and unpinned barrel, informally called a "transitional" gun. The 13-3 has a non-recessed cylinder.

I'd see how you get along with it shooting wise but you could do a lot worse in a carry gun. :) Enjoy!

Welcome to THE forum! I owned a Model 65 with the 3” barrel and I regret having sold it! Your M13 is a great gun. Definitely should shoot and carry it.

Welcome to the forum!

A 3" K frame is just about the perfect carry revolver, especially in the fixed sight M13/65 version.

That is a nice looking example, and in nickel, which is a little more rare than the blued or stainless version. Congrats on the find!

My 3" 13 is the revolver I'm most likely to carry when I'm forced to leave my rural comfort zone. My 640 EDC becomes a BUG at that point.

Welcome to the forum ! Great acquisition. Most here will say the perfect carry combat revolver. Wouldn’t hesitate to carry. Def Flitz and Ren Wax and don’t forget under the grips. Check under the grips frequently.
Treat yourself to a quality holster for it (Kramer / El Paso / Milt Sparks / Don Hume)

3" K frames seem t look and carry just right; well balanced, etc. The round butt is generally more flexible for carry, too - a little easier to conceal. If one has bigger hands, there are stocks that fit RB frames that are more like square butt frames. One of the "gifts" from my mom is relatively small hands for a 6' male, so I had my 4" M66 chopped to RB and it works very well. My old eyes do not do well with most S&W revolver fixed sights (too slow to acquire for serious use), but some folks do well with them. Do some training/testing and see how they work for you. There are good options for my visible front sights if needed. Least work is a good quality bright model paint on the front sight. I like XS Big Dot tritium, personally, and there are folks who do make more visible rear sights too.
