TV series "Joe Pickett"
I just watched the series, and while not as good as J.Box's books, They were entertaining...not a waste of time.
I'm no Smith & wesson expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I enjoyed the Smith & Wessons the Wyoming Game Wardens were using.
Being the nit picker I am, noticed the hero's first revolver had a bore a tad large for the 357s they used later...I figured maybe a stainless 29, and after a while, it appeared the Game Wardens were all using older model 66s, with the pinned hammer nose. He apparently was using a scoped .22 (maybe a Remington 580 something) that he took down a bad guy with. One-shot stop! Probably hoping most of the audience wouldn't notice, ya think?
Nate Romanowski's revolver looked to be a large bore Ruger, which seemed accurately in character, but he shot a guy with it, who got right back up!

And being a gunleather guy myself, I noticed that Joe carries his revolver in a holster by DeSantis that is for the S&W M39 instead! Which I designed for Gene's company. With the ideal view one can see the moulding to the auto vs the revolver.

Haven't seen the series. The books are outstanding. I also notice discrepancies. It used to be a favorite past time of me and my late wife, spotting errors in movies and on the TV.

The series went a little long. It could have been a couple episodes shorter each season. I wish Picketts character wasn’t so hapless. Lol. Also like every other show they had to work the action before shooting Grrrrrrrr!

I think it's a 'noise thing' they think impresses the audience!

I think Romanowski's gun is a Freedom arms Model 83. Made right there in Freedom Wyoming. I also noticed the possible transition from a 629 to a 66. Hard to tell

If I recall correctly, in one of the books it was mentioned his revolver was a custom large caliber, ?? 460 or 500 or something custom to Freedom arms??

haven't seen the boob tube but sure read all the books
So.......... Joe Pickett carries three (3) handguns; A Beretta 92 FS, a Glock 22 (40 S&W) and a Freedom Arms Model 83 in 500 Wyoming Express. His buddy, Nate Romansky carries a Freedom Arms, Model 83 in 454 Casull.
I don't watch a heck of a lot of TV, but I do like the book series and am usually at the library every couple weeks, and always look for more from CJ Box. Like his style, plots, characters, good writer in my opinion.

That show started off OK but quickly devolved into pulp trash through season 2. Very understandable why it got canceled.

Once, as Joe came through the door, I noticed he unclipped his holster/gun from his belt, and laid it on the table. It looked to me it was the same sort of holster Walt Longmire carried his 1911 in, which he unclipped often during the series.
After seeing that, I bought a 1791 Gunleather holster for my revolver. It works just great. Why 1791? Iirc, it was the only one Amazon carried at the time.

I started to watch the series. Up until the introduction of Nate Romanowski. Hardly a large blonde Norwegian. Sorry guys, I shut it off.

Hmm, I don't remember Joe carrying anything but that Glock. I recalled Nate as having two FAs, one .454 and one .500 or .475.
I have the new one on Kindle, Nate is very POed and I am sure I will get updated on his weapons.
Every adventurer needs a sidekick who is readier to violence.
Nate had just as soon shoot you as look at you.
Joachim Steuben will shoot you and like it.

Hollyweird folks tend to be uninformed on firearms (and lots of other stuff) and they seem not to care about accuracy in depicting reality.

It's a paddle holster. Chosen by costume people because the holstered pistol can be added and deleted from the actor as scenes are changed. As far back as Dirty Harry the actor is not wearing his pistol in every scene; only added to the actor when the pistol is to be showcased.
Here's the Joe character showing off his M66 in an M59-moulded holster, from DeSantis. The mismatch leaped out at me when the series was first advertised:

The book series is good, good enought to read them all.
The TV series is not as good, but better than watching 60 minutes.
