Carl Walther R 99 Information

I have a Carl Walther R-99 and need some help on its history and present selling price.It is made by smith & wesson and is marked on crane cut out 19-8,it is a 357 magnum with a 3' BARREL - PLASTIC GRIPS WITH walther on them ,The gun is stainless steel with a black coating.THE r side below the cylinder is marked Smith & weson

do not see any marks on recoil shield but a slight turn rimg
It has adjustable reAR SIGHT&RED INSERT ONRAMPED FRONT SIGHT
it HAS ORIGINAL BLUE PLASTIC BOX ,NO TOOLS ,BUT SOME PAPER WORK
GUN IS NOT MARKED WITH AN IMPORT STAMP.
ANY INFORMATION ON HISTORY AND ESTIMATED PRICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED

I learn something new on this Forum every time I login. I didn't know that a Walther R-99 even existed, or that S&W actually made them from a Model 19. I understand that R-99s were only sold in Europe but that a few have made their way back to the USA (perhaps via US military personnel stationed overseas). Very interesting...and I'm surprised that Lew Horton or some other distributor didn't try to have a special run made for the US market.
