New purchase and looking for information

Just joined the forum, but this is the first revolver I have ourhased. I purchased what I thought was a Model 10-1 but using the forum think its a 10-7. Looking for help me with finding out about this revolver or do I need to go to S&W directly?

Its a .38 Caliber with either a 4 or 5 inch barrel. But looks closer to a 5" barrel. It has 2 screws on the right hand side of the piece and one screw new the toe of the handle. I've attached pictures to assist.

It's referred to as a 3-screw frame. The upper sideplate screw went away around 1958. The cylinder stop spring screw in front of the trigger guard disappeared around 1962.

Your 10-7 is from the late 80's.

And according to your tape measure, that's a 5" barrel.

Welcome to the S&W Forums. Yours is a very nice looking Model 10-7. It does not appear to have been used much, if at all.

There is a third screw under the stocks, making this a 3 screw. The strain screw in the grip strap isn't counted.
