I've searched on-line catalogs and found these two revolver/pistol storage rack systems. They are advertised as stackables. I believe these are plasticized. Inputs or experiences with these or any other type of open revolver/pistol storage rack system would be appreciated.

Versatile

I have the first type you have pictured. It is by Versatile. They are very nice and sturdy. I have the four gun versions. I have not tried the stackable option, but am going to have to do something because I am running out of space. Brownells has them on their site. I also have the peg board racks on my safe door. They are holding several 6 1/2 inch revolvers and work nicely as well.

One thing that I noticed is that on the four and six gun racks, in my safe (which is a small Sentry safe), the 6 1/2 inch and longer guns do not fit in the rack on my shelf. This is because of the angle in which the gun is installed in the rack. That is why I went with the peg board racks for the safe door. My five inch and shorter revolvers will be stored in the four or six gun racks. Anything longer than that goes to the door on the peg board racks.

I too have the first version is the large capacity, but I have not stacked them yet.

Thanks for the inputs.

Kevin: I browsed the Brownells link you provided. The Versatile rack system would work for me. Where did you get the peg board racks?
BTW, those 29's you have on the classified are beauts! Good luck with the sale.

I've got one of the first ones shown and have no complaints. I think only the second one is "stackable" as I see no way that mine could be stacked.
As for stacking, I would be afraid that the "stack" would be somewhat unstable because of the small "footprint".

(Nothing like having a tower of your guns fall over.)

Peg board rack

Larry, the peg board rack is also at the Brownell's link. It is $11.99 ($8.95 if you get a dealer discount from Brownells). That is for only one gun, so fairly steep, but I needed them for my tight safe realestate.

Thanks on the well wishes for the guns I have for sale. Not sure why they are not moving, but hopefully, they will find a new home soon.

Dean: Here's the stacked version from Brownells (same as photo image 1 from my original missive). Thanks for the feedback.

Kevin: I finally found the peg board. Yes, a tad pricey but then again, you're right. I don't see how 6 1/2 and longer bbls will securely store in the Versatile racks either.

Regards,
Larry

Wire Rack Works well

I had a dead space in the center section of my gun safe- between the long guns and under the storage cubicles. I built a PVC pipe storage frame about 24" tall and 10" wide, with the finished wooden top angled down at ~30 degrees. I drilled four shallow holes into the wooden top to match the feet of the pistol rack (the first version you displayed) so the rack stays put. It holds 6 of my N-frames like a champ (27s, 28s, and 29s). I also put a horizontal shelf down near the feet of the frame to hold ammo, etc. I put the guns into the rack barrels down and hook the hammers under the wire of the rack. Makes a nice display, utilizes some wasted space, and handles everything from 3-1/2" to 6-1/2" bbls. I've also had 1911s and Model 15 snubs in the same rack. I'd recommend those racks.

Hawg Rider I'd love to see a pic of the PVC pipe setup..
I have a buddy who just bought a safe that sounds just like yours & it was full from day one & needs a bit more room for some handguns..
Thankx

PVC/Wood Pistol Storage Rack

OK Headknocker, here are some pics of the storage rack that I designed for my 16-gun safe. Since it's PVC, you can make it as tall, wide, or deep as you need to fill that wasted space. This only took me about 2 hrs total to design and build. Good luck and enjoy!
