Default S&W 1911 trigger noise

Hello, I have a S&W 1911 45acp pistol, and several other brands of 1911 pistols and was wondering....why when you shake or even move the S&W 1911 the trigger rattles, also it seems to have alot of play in the trigger...side to side movement. I havent had a bit of trouble with it shooting, or otherwise. I have two friends that also have S&W 1911's(different models) and they do the same thing.

I was just wondering, as none of the other 1911's I have do this.

Thanks,

Yes. You have a good eye.

The triggers are sloppy on the S&W 1911 but the noise comes from the grip safety. The "Wilson grip safety" type of safety has over-sized pin holes so it moves around more than it should. To correct this noise, you can bend the grip safety spring more and this will jack out the safety holding it tighter.

Or you replace the grip safety.

Normally, rattles don't affect the gun from running. SW1911s do run well. Their external extractor is well made.
