When fitting a 1911 govt. barrel bushing I.D. should you relieve the top rear or bottom rear for barrel tilt? Just received EGW angle bore bushing and its angle bored on bottom. Factory S&W PC bushing that came on gun is relieved on top rear.

Normally on a hard fit bushing you will need to relieve at the top rear AND the bottom front. I haven't worked with any EGW angle bored bushings so I don'tknow exactly how George cuts them. Just give it a little tiny bit of relief until it will tilt without having the barrel spring when locked up. If you black the barrel with a magic marker you should be able to see where it needs relief when you lock it up.

I ordered my thick flange egw angle bored with .001" bore clearance and had to fit bushing to slide.

Very tight bore to bushing and it left two marks at roughly 4 and 8 o'clock.

Egw told me to slightly dress those marks and I have had zero issues with 4 guns that I fitted.
