Does anyone know where I can get a copy...downloadable or otherwise of J-Frame schematics? A dvd even of how to take apart a J-Frame would be good and maybe better. I want to replace a couple springs and would feel more comfortable with a schematic. I have done Glocks and they are quite easy to take apart and put together again, but this will be my first revolver. Thanks in advance!

pzlehr,

Numrich should have an exploded view on their site. Search by make/model.
There exist beaucoup Youtube vids for j-frame or look at the AGI (American Gunsmithing Ins.) or Midway's website to order a DVD.

Regards,
Mike

Here's a diagram for a J-frame from 1974

snw,

Are those diagrams copyrighted?

Mike
You know, good point. I went through every page of those two manuals (and some others) and can see no copyright at all. I did however find this in the later one.

If you start taking apart a S&W revolver with no moe knowledge than a diagram, the first thing you'll do is ruin the sideplate.
I agree completely!

Luckily, I found some vids on Youtube....it was perfect for what I wanted which was to change out 3 springs and the firing pin. Was able to remove the sideplate fine...all seems well, shoots good anyway.
