Default New To Me Mustang Grips

I picked up a '70s model 10 this wearing Mustang grips.
My only knowledge of the company is from the internet. They closed shop in the '70s.
They are comfortable, but a little scratched up and the high gloss, orange hue just wasn't for me.
Today I started sanding (60, 150, 600) and ended up by sealing with Ren Wax.
It's more to my taste.

I have a big-old orange set of mustang combat grips in the box...

Yours look great; might need to follow suit.

I had a pair zebra wood Mustang grips for a Colt Combat Commander that looked similar.

Beauetienne, what type of wood are those grips? I just bought a set of Mustang grips this past weekend at a gun show. They are for a J frame square butt, but look identicle to yours, with the exception mine have a slight chip off of one grip. I couldn't resist for $10. Now I only have to buy a square butt J frame.

They're Zebra Wood (kinda obvious where the name came from, huh?) and they enjoy a love/hate relationship among gun owners. I've tried, but i just haven't been able to warm up to them, probably because the original finish applied by Mustang and others makes them so garish to my view. The OP has allowed them to acquire a little more class as they are now emphasizing the beauty of the grain. I may be weakening a little but am still not convinced...
