Greetings all. I have a model 28 4” with a trigger shoe. I’ve shoot with the trigger shoe with no problem. But I’ve read that some training schools don’t allow trigger shoes on the pistols used by students. Any advice on how to remove it? It appears to have two roll pins. Thanks in advance and I’ll post pics later

Trigger Shoe Removal

The proper size Allen Wrench will do the job but there will be a couple marks on your "Case Hardened" trigger left there by the Allen Screws. I cannot remember the exact size Allen Wrench it takes but surely someone here does remember!

The roll pins are tiny ... and I mean tiny-tiny ... hex head set screws , about the width of a human hair . The only wrenches I have that small came with the Trigger shoes and I keep every one .
Soak the screws and shoe in penetrating oil several hours / days to help get the screws off / out ... if the head strips ... I don't want to thinks about it !

A 50/50 mix of Acetone & ATF (automatic transmission fluid ) conventional type (not synthetic) makes one of the best penetrating oils for removing long in place small screws like this .

They aren’t anything you can’t get a wrench for at harbor freight. Buy a $5 set and one will fit. In fact some will even be too small. After you get it off you can send it to me. I think they’re neat. I have one on a model 10 and my 870 Wingmaster slug gun.

I bought 1 used model 28 off GB some years ago that came with a trigger shoe. I had the correct size allen wrench in an old gun screwdriver kit my father bought some 50+ years ago. It came right off with no problems. What Alk8944 said about the wrench size sounds about right; it's small for sure.

Yes on .050” Allen wrench size. And please buy good Allen wrenches, not HF. Too soft and will round off the corners.

ESPECIALLY the smaller sizes. The Bondhus brand seems to last pretty well. If you do buy some, I'd say get both the Metric and the SAE sizes. These days you never know what you're gonna encounter.

+1 on Bondhus Allen wrenches, they're quality tools Harbor Freight is imported Chinese junk. SAE and metric sets are an excellent idea, I had a set of each in L handle and screwdriver handle models.

One of our Patrolmen had a trigger shoe on his duty revolver, which he should not have had on it. Our holsters had a warning to not use a trigger shoe on your weapon due to the possibility of the gun being cocked and fired while holstering the gun.
Sure enough, he went to holster his revolver and "bang" the gun went off and he got a slug lodged in his leg.
Poor guy took a lot of ribbing over that incident.:D

Not to hi-jack the thread, but the words Harbor Freight and guns should never even be in the same sentence! The only thing I had from HF was the free flashlight they gave away when they forst opened up. That too went into the garbage - worthless!

I am not aware of owning ANY Chicom tools! I know I have never bought any!
