I wonder if any of the early gold picture boxes had that stamp, my later 46 box does not, s 855936, must have been just the early maroon post war boxes that did, very nice gun.
nice condition gun, those pre-war guns get me excited. the vintage speedloader is a neat piece also, does anyone have a brass speedloader? I assume those pre-date the one pictured.
gun 4 fun, you are right, there is no liner, and that particular gun probably wont see much time in that holster, others will. Turnerriver, thanks so much, I knew there would those of you who would know.
I have been wanting a nice floral carved holster for my '48 K-22 and this weekend I came across this one at a small gun show. Stamped on back "Warshals Sporting Goods Co., Seattle, Wash. 96F K-22 6". Any idea on who actually made it? It cost me $20.
very nice gun, grips show very nice as well, just one other note about the call gold bead, they could be special ordered as well, I have one that letters.
nice find, I have four of these, one is a shooter grade and the others safe queens, I like the pre-war guns over the post war k-22's,when you take it out to shoot it, I think you will be pleased about the accuracy of these guns
On 9-27 I requested a letter on this K-22 and received it today. This gun came with a special order Call gold bead front sight. My previous question of how a later serial # could have had the gold bead sight is answered in the letter - by special order.
mike, some great information there, the thing that caught my attention, apart from that gorgeous gun, was that he worked for S&W for 64 years! Makes you wonder at what age he began.
you mention that is a shooter grade gun that is in nice condition, last year I paid 600 for something similar, without the replacement barrel, so my opinion would be in the 500-600 range, others I'm sure will offer their good advice.
Picked up my latest K-22 O.D. today. Serial # 658,9XX with Call gold bead front sight. A call to Roy Jinks revealed that this would have been a special order. Will letter this one.
