I'm trying to date three old K frame HE's. All are .38 special, blue, none have Made in USA stamped on side. First is a square butt, 5 screw, 6" with adjustable sights s/n 132712. Second is a four screw, 5" with adjustable sights, round butt and s/n 51462. The sights on both are much smaller...

I just obtained a First model 1896 in .32 long. It is a 4 screw with a 4" barrel. It has the swing out cylinder which is opened by pulling on the ejector rod. The s/n is 169xx and I am trying to date this gun. Thanks in advance.

I'm only looking for a shorter barrel.

As I have two model 27-2's in 6" I'm thinking of replacing one with a shorter barrel but not been able to find one. Any suggestions?

At a recent gun show I saw an older .44 special HE with fixed sights. It had a 6" barrel with a smooth bore and the seller said it was shipped from S&W as is for shooting snakes. Does this sound familiar? He wanted $1,400.00. Thanks

I have a four screw, model 53, .22 Jet s/n K4753xx. Can anyone tell me when it was shipped and how long did S&W produce these noise makers.

Just got a 5 screw .32 long with black plastic grips, 4 1/4" barrel in nickel. It does not have, "Made in USA" stamped on it and the last patent date is 9/14/09. S/N 2331xx. Any idea as to age? I will post pics later. Thanks

Due to ailing eyesight I just discovered it is a four screw not three if it makes a difference.

I have a model 25-2 which shoots .45 acp ammo. On the right side of the barrel is stamped, "Model 1955". I also have a model 25-5 which shoots .45 long colt. My question is; I was under the impression that a certain model would be of one caliber. Can someone clear this up?

PS. The cheapest place I found for ammo was Reeds in Ok.

Thanks for the imput. Gun in rough shape, seller describes it as a former SFPD issue although it isn't stamped such.

I have a six shot, K frame .38 with 4" barrel, adjustable sight, it looks like a model 15 but isn't stamped such. S/N is K191803 is stamped on the butt. Any help would be appreciated in ID'ing the gun and age.

My gun came with one cylinder but I see some with two, am I missing one. The cylinder I have is for .22 jet and I have the inserts for .22 longs.
