    S&W 625-8

The 625-8 is one of my most favored revolvers, ever. I have shot THOUSANDS of my home cast bullets with excellent results. No leading, accuracy well under one inch at 25 yards off a rest, on demand. I shoot mostly target loads (200 gr. Mihec H&G SWC ahead of 4.0 grs. Of Bullseye or equivalent)...

    Model 60-4 3”

I have had mine since they were first offered. I was amazed at how well I shot it right from the start. They make a terrific side gun for a shotgun. Just terrific for sitting rabbits and wounded grouse and you hardly know you have it on you until needed. Dale53

Here is what I finally did with my M&P R8............

At my advanced age, Red Dot sights have really saved the day for me. It has extended my shooting ability for several years. I rather suspect that R8 will shoot VERY well. Dale53

    Favorite range revolver????

I have just been LOVIN' this thread! I have put at least 100,000 .45 ACP's downrange from 1911's and have great affection for that platform. However, that said, I am really a revolver guy at heart. Recently, I have been shooting the S&W Model 520 the most: This is the way it looks now (after...

    model 25 colt throat??

The U.S. Army standard was to shoot through a horse at 100 yards. It did NOT include killing the “Indian” hanging off the side. The idea was just to put an enemy afoot, out West. They were no longer much of a threat and in many areas out West, being afoot was nearly a death sentence. After...

Question for Dillon RL550 users on powder measure?

I have loaded thousands of .44 Magnums with Win296, H110, and WC820 without issue on my two Dillon 550B’s. If you have the latest Dillon Powder measures with the proper slides for the load in question, You shouldn’t have a problem either. You definitely should be using a proper slide for the...

What are you shooting in your 625?

I have two 625's. One is a 625-6 Model of 1989 with 5" barrel and the other is a 625-8 JM Special with a 4" barrel. They are a couple of my favorite revolvers of all time. It is VERY important to size the bullets to the cylinder throat size. On both of my revolvers, the throats are .452". I...

    686-3 Target Classic

I have a couple of 686's and really like them. They are extremely accurate and reliable. Great field revolvers as well as on the range. FWIW Dale53

    Model 60 barrel

I have access to a great local (Cincinnati, Ohio) pistolsmith. I would QUICKLY get that revolver to him. Another path would be a call to the “Mother Ship”. That DEFINITELY calls for a new barrel. Dale53

44 special 250gr SWC Unique light load?

The OP mentions he is not interested in another powder. However, a faster burning piwder will work better for light loads. Bullseye has long been THE choice for this purpose. Red Dot has also been mentioned. My choice would be Titegroup as it is not position sensitive. I am not bothered by it’s...

Model 60 w/3 inch barrel ? Bought Pics in Post 11

I have had my 60-4 since they were first offered. I have taken a number of cottontail and snowshoe rabbits while bird hunting as well as a number of sitting and wounded grouse. They are a DANDY field revolver! I was hoping for a 4" barreled .38 Special "Kit Gun" when at the Indianapolis 500 Gun...

    Which .357 frame is stronger?

The 686 in either version will handle any .357 factory load without ANY strength issues. Further, I much prefer the 686 compared to the Model 27/627 because it will handle a wider range of bullet lengths (cylinder is longer than the 27/627). As a for instance, the original Keith 358429 must be...

    Frankin Gun. New Question. 12/19

I'm getting on board here rather late. However, I, TOO, am a .32 fan. If the gun shoots, then it would be simple to have it bead blasted and either Industrial Hard Chrome or Electroless Nickel finish would make the piece attractive and would hold up forever! Of course, before I had it...

    45ACp Bad Leading

I have a 625-6 Model of 1989 with a 5" barrel and a 625-8 JM Special with a 4" barrel. I also have two 1911's. All shoot well with my home cast bullets. Alloy is WW's+2% tin, sized at .452" and lubed with White Label Carnauba Red. These bullets shoot extremely well at target and FULL velocities...

    SW 625 JM .45ACP

I have two S&W Model 625's. One is a Model of 1989 (625-6) with a 5" barrel and one is a 625-8 JM Special. I shoot NOTHING but home cast bullets in mine. I get NO leading. Jacketed bullets can wear a barrel out. The Advanced Marksmanship Unit would replace all of their 1911 hard ball barrels...

How to value my stolen handgun for insurance

I am a retired Insurance major case claims rep. Your particular policy may have replacement cost (that means you get a new revolver less your deductible). If you were happy with your old revolver, just let them buy you a new one. If you are an NRA member, you may have coverage with them (a...

    Model 16 On the Way

Jack; My 16-4 is an original .32 H&R Magnum. I have used my 16-4 in the field quite a bit, actually. My desired power level is really a somewhat warm .32 S&W Long with a properly designed home cast bullet. I do NOT want magnum level loads when hunting edible small game. A good 100 gr. or so SWC...
