Hello
here are some pics of my beloved 625 JM.
I modified it with a Wilson spring kit and a fiber front sight.
I fed it with handloaded ammunitions made of 230 grains bullets and 0,34 grams of french A1 powder.
I use it both in IPSC and for 25 meters shooting.
It is one of my best handguns along with my Kimber 1911-style pistol.
I love to shoot .45 ACP in a revolver !

(Excuse my bad english)

I sure like them myself! Have a 625-8, JM. Went with the Hi-Viz F.O. sights. I no longer shoot lead bullets in it. Too hard to get the LEAD out of the forcing cone/ barrel area. Bob

I have two S&W Model 625's. One is a Model of 1989 (625-6) with a 5" barrel and one is a 625-8 JM Special. I shoot NOTHING but home cast bullets in mine. I get NO leading.

Jacketed bullets can wear a barrel out. The Advanced Marksmanship Unit would replace all of their 1911 hard ball barrels every five thousand rounds. My favorite 1911 (custom) has had 100,000 cast bullet rounds through it, nearly all home cast at full velocity) and still will group under one inch at 25 yards.

I plan on passing my revolvers to the next guy without being worn out. I have shot both my 625's over 15,000 rounds and their barrels are "as new".

FWIW,
