    Model 36 without sideplate stamp?

IMHO, the picture is not the OPs. It's an example. My understanding is that S&W stopped putting the large rollmark on the side plate in the 70s (I forget the exact year) for police agencies that wanted to insert their own logo.

    Crystal Head Vodka

Too pricey for my tastes. I like Sobieski, grain, for about 10 bucks a liter and Monopolova, potato, for about 12 bucks a liter. Both score very well in the Beverage Institute tastings as well as my own. If I have to buy a vodka label to impress it's Chopin.

When did you last buy a Brand New S&W ?

It was either a model 6906 or 4536. I bought them both about the same time - 1994 or so. I still have them. BTW - the last new pistol I bought was an Argentinian FM Hi-Power for something like $259 in the PRK circa 1995. I went through about 20 pistols with the owner before I found one with...

At lunch today my wife asked for the combination to the gun safe!

I don't worry so much about the combination as I keep the keys for the combination lock in another safe....

    1911-perfect or NOT!!!!!!!!!!

Actually the original design just had a grip safety (see Colt model 1905). The military forced Browning to add the frame mounted safety.

    Police trade in choices

To me it would depend upon whether or not I was going to carry a lot. Stainless is much better under adverse conditions than blue. Personally, I'd go for a nice 19 since I have a nice 65, but YMMV. The prices are pretty good. If I had the cash I might get one of each.

Any way to tell Mdl 10 Country of Use

The only way to really tell, IMHO, is to look for proof markings. I would suspect getting a factory letter would just indicate some distributor who sold it overseas. Lately, I have seen a bunch of Austrian police and customs retired pistols. They have proof marks on the bottom of the barrel...

    ammo- how hard to find?

Typically when I got to Wally World anymore I see a lot of 40 S&W, 22 LR, 223 Rem and 25 or 32 ACP (not necessarily in that order). This is several different stores. You can get ammo mail order if you're willing to shop heavily and wait for the UPS delivery person. If you are looking for a...

    I don't think so scooter

I actually had hopes that the Belgians would breath variety, if not life, into AB after buying it. After all, Belgium is home to over 800 unique brands from 125 breweries. Alas, we got more malt flavored water. Forget hops at all. I'll stick to my homebrewed Flagpole Tongue Scotch Ale, a...

    Pre Victory M&P

Submitted for your approval, a model 1905 4th change Military and Police revolver in 38 Special s/n 926778. All numbers match. The most interesting thing I noted about this revolver is the name "L.J. SHANKS" and the date, "DEC. 25 42" written on the right grip. I was hoping that...

Nice Victory. Now you need to get (if you don't already have) an Underwood made M1 Carbine as they were also made in Hartford. Charlie

    A big hearty thank you

I've always been a wheel gun guy, but since I've found this forum, I've bought: (2) model 64 38 specials (1) model 10 38 special (1) model 625-3 45 ACP and that was just in January. My transferring FFL, stocking ammunition dealer, safe distributor and accoutrements dealer collectively thank...

Is this a Victory or an M&P?

Not much else to add except my research indicates this revolver probably shipping in the Spring of 1942. Best way to know for sure is to get a factory letter. Charlie
