I have a 36 no dash that has no S&W logo stamp on the sideplate (side opposite the side with the cylinder release). Is this unusual? It has the trademark stamp.
Model 36 without sideplate stamp?

That's typical for the small frames. It should have the small circular trademark stamp below the release latch and four lines of copy on the front right.

IMHO, the picture is not the OPs. It's an example.
My understanding is that S&W stopped putting the large rollmark on the side plate in the 70s (I forget the exact year) for police agencies that wanted to insert their own logo.

It's my Model 49, I used the photo just to show a small frame of that vintage. Is this better?
