    Reloading aluminum cases

At my range I spend as much time picking up free brass no one wants as do shooting. Reason I started this thread is the range got a huge shipment of aluminum .44 special so wanted to ask here if worth retrieving, don't need them at all. I only shoot and reload straight cased revolver rounds. For...

    Reloading aluminum cases

Available Brass Shooting every weekend over decades testing the custom guns I build as a past-time do have a few brass cases laying around. My range lets me help myself to the piles of discarded brass, so arrive with two boxes of ammo, go home with four boxes worth of brass, sometimes less as...

    Reloading aluminum cases

I'm using my 1972 the RCBS carbon steel dies had purchased back then. Bullets are coated .38 wadcutter, straight sided case went through the process with very little force (seemed less than with brass). I don't know about multiple reloading these over and over but with the light 2.7 of bullseye...

    Reloading aluminum cases

Know this has probably been talked to death, but the claim that aluminum cased bullets are stickily deposable after shoot, is that correct? I have a few that ended up in my brass .38 special run and it sized and crimped fine but haven't shoot any finished ones?

    Model 15-3 Revolver

Polished Have build custom guns since the early 70s,, there is another option to an expensive refinishing. I polish mine as would be one of the re-bluing steps and retain them that way. Takes lots of time and a bench buffing wheel, photo show the results, but like salvaging those considered...

    S&W 53

what really devaluats a Model 53 Where the real loss of value sellers don't want to mention is condition of their M-53s forcing cone. Asking about a $1,000 or more gun that looks great for sale, "hows the forcing cone" wellll, er,, a, yea the forcing cone, hummm, gee I'm not sure. Anyone who...

Model 28-2 Converted to 44 Special

Following Skeeter's guidance, in the 70's bought a new M-28 and sent it's barrel and cylinder out to be converted to .44 special. The barrel was lined and most need magnification to tell. Also paid for the front red insert to be installed. Everything was saved from that time, may mount it back...

    Model 14 .357 or .358 Diameter

    Model 53 Purchase advice

Barrel damage Model 53's and Model 19's particularly need to be inspected where the bullet enters the barrel. On the M-53 the extreme blast eats that area of the barrel then condition is obviously dished out and damaged. Critical to the guns value but last thing owners/ sellers/ collectors want...

    17-4 Value

That condition sometimes has to do with over honing doing a trigger job, lots of triggers on Ebay. Pretty easy after a while of tracking what sells on Gun Broker for how much. How their sold a factor too, a starting price no reserve verses a poke and hope auction.

50th birthday Present - Shooting the safe queens

I bought some like new revolvers I shoot. If very careful how you protect them for transport in a soft lined case, and even more care handling and cleaning them be surprised how many fun visits to the range and still look pristine.
