    Price Check: 4054

Fella has a 4054 I can get. He's asking $325. Sounds to me like I should jump on it (although I've got a SW99 compact) just because how many 3rd Gens are priced like that. But I figured I'd ask. (And yes, I looked it up on the Standard Catalog and it says less than 154 of 'em were made. No...

    WTB: J Frame

Looking for a shooter grade J frame, prefer a 'humpback' ala 38, 49, 638, 649 but will consider one with an exposed hammer. .38 special...or 357 if the price is right (I doubt I'd shoot magnums out of it, but it would be nice to have the option.) S&W is my first choice, but for the right deal...

The Humpbacks: Info and Help Requested

Thanks to all who shared. Great info, just what I was hoping for. Now on the hunt for a nice (in order of preference): 49, 649, 38, 638 and then everything else. (Although if I found a really nice J at a really good price, even with a regular hammer, I'd probably be over it like a cold sweat...

The Humpbacks: Info and Help Requested

I have a 642-1 Performance Center. I pocket carry it if I'm not carrying either my CS9 or 3914 or CS45. I really like it. But...I'm really hankering for a humpback (I gave the one I had to my middle guy and he ain't give'in it back!). I want the SA option and they just look great. But there...

    Thoughts on the CSX

Compare & Contrast: CSX with 3rd Gens (CS9, 3924LS or 6906) and/or Shield EZ in 9. Capacity is a big difference, I got that. But what, if anything, else?

My S&W 9mm addiction is becoming a bit troublesome

Nice pick-up, congrats. My addiction isn't troublesome, but it has stopped me from buying other guns. I don't look at compacts any more, how much better than the smaller 9s? Subs are off the list with CS9 and CS45. I've stopped searching for striker-fired guns with a couple of SW99s, an M&P...

    Navy Arms SMLE Mk 4s

31FordA -- I too have one of the "Irish Contract" rifles. It's the best of my Enfields and I need to shoot it a bunch more. (But I gotta confess, if I'm shooting milsurps I tend to pull out my Schmidt Rubins (I put some glass on a K31. These are true tack drivers, sweet trigger, and I like to...

Slim Yet Curvy CS9: Blonde or Brunette Better?

My CS9 is a blond and my 3914 is a brunette; the '14 seems more long and leggy, the CS a bit shorter but rounded in all the right places...and I am torn every time I need to make a choice. So I usually default to a 4513 which is the same size (height and length) as the 3914 and the same width...

Rate the Maker: What do you think of these manufacturers??

I put Kimber on the list as it is pretty much an unknown to me. I've heard mixed reviews but as I never seriously considered one I never did much research on it. And it never hurts to ask.

Rate the Maker: What do you think of these manufacturers??

I'd like to rate the maker. (No, not THE MAKER, He [She?] gets an hour or two every Sunday and far be it from me to suggest we grade his/her performance.) No I mean a bunch of pistol and revolver makers who I've heard of and seen lots of their products on auction sites and in stores, but...

What Pistol/How Old a gun to shoot modern .32 SW Long?

First, thanks to all who helped me here. I'm looking at a Colt Police Positive at my LGS, they have two one at $325 and another at $375, will be choosing on Friday. However, I was warned by raljhr1, "Be very careful about buying a 32. I bought one once.....and then was compelled to repeat the...

What Pistol/How Old a gun to shoot modern .32 SW Long?

So I've got a half dozen boxes of .32 Longs in the safe. But don't have a .32 revolver. Rather than sell the bullets, I figure I'd buy a gun to shoot them. (Which makes no sense at all, but hey, what the heck?) So I'm wondering how old a gun I can safely shoot these cartridges in? There's...

    539 questions

I like my 639 a bunch. One of my "never sell" guns. Bought used from a dealer who disposed of police surplus (see pic. County in Ohio). Surprised you were surprised it wasn't a 39, as the model number is usually pretty clearly stamped on the left side. Not sure about "collectors" but I had...

New CS9 range day with 3913.

Question: How do you choose which one to carry? I have a CS9 and 3014LS and am always conflicted about which one to tuck into my belt. And to add to my confusion there's my choice of CS45 or a SW99 in .40 (and a Shield 9mm EZ and 6906). I confess being slightly embarrassed by a plethora...

    "Mouse Guns" Surplus Pistols

I too got on a .32 kick a few years ago and now the safe contains an FEGP66 (PP clone & I had the trigger worked on and it's outstanding), Colt 1903, Beretta models 70 and 81, 1935 Beretta, and a CZ70. I carried the Berettas for a while (not the 1935) but as you'll see in pics, my CS9 is the...

    H&R Defender Special circa 1940

I do like the .38 S&W...so here's a few of mine, including a 925. (Pics of 925; S&W "Perfected," and .38/32 Terrier.) I also have a Smith Model 33, H&R Defender (925's bigger brother, was made for defense plant guards in WWII) a .38/200 BSR, and Colt Police Positive.

    Sig P220 Compact

I love me my 220s -- and I've got two, one in 9mm and another in 45. Can't see my way clear of even looking for a compact though, as I have too many similar-sized Smiths, in 9 (CS9, 3914, 6906, etc. and 45 (4513TSW). Here's a pic of the 9 and a pic of the .45 with what I think is a 4566 (I...

Here's my "early?" (left side safety only)TDA in "blue." I had it tuned and fiber optic front sight. One of my prime carry guns.

how common do you think this mind-set is?

Every time I go to the range (which I wish I could do more often) I carry one of my self-defense pistols and shoot no less than 3 mags with it. I can't imagine carrying anything, even a knife, without being 100% sure it works as it should.
