Disappointed… but it’s partly on me

You could easily tap the sight screw hole to the next size larger or drill and tap the hole to a larger size like 10-32 and Loctite in a piece of Grade 8 threads so they are flush on the bottom and once the Loctite sets up drill and tap the hole to the correct size. No it is not factory...

.45 Colt Chamber Pressure for Model 25

my point IS 23,000psi loads will not beat up a model 25 and certainly no more than a 36,000 psi load will beat up a model 29. I have 3 45 colts I built from 1917 frames, one of them a Brazilian, all have also been machined for adjustable sights, and both of them have been subject to lots of...

Squirrels raising havoc on the bird feeders

We don't have any grey squirrels where I live which strikes me as odd, because there are lots of them in most Montana towns. There are the smaller pine squirrels around but if they come in my yard they best pay attention cause my cats will get them if they are not careful. They have brought...

.45 Colt Chamber Pressure for Model 25

Thing is a Ruger cylinder is the same diameter as one from an N frame Smith. The Ruger cylinder stop notch is however SLIGHTLY offset from dead center on the chambers This argument about S&W 45 colt loads goes on and on despite the fact plenty of us fire higher than the 14,000psi loads set to...

.45 Colt Chamber Pressure for Model 25

I would not loat a S&W model 25 to 36,000psi. But I fail to believe that your going to wear or stretch a frame any worse than a 44 mag does loading them in the 23,000m to 25,000 psi range which should not approach the 44 mags 5788 lb The truth is the heavier bullet and/or the higher the...

    Conversion of 32 to 32H&R

The I frame cylinders are too short for the 32 H&R. The J frames lengthened the cylinder.

How cool is your state's driver's license?

Joke is that as I turn 75 this August when I renewed my license they only renewed it for 1 year. Montana renews for 8 years EXCEPT when your going to turn 75 or 21. Those approaching those ages only get theirs until that particular birthday. When you turn 21 they give you a slightly different...

    Lady Smith From 1908

That is really an excellent example. Those mother of pearls look great on it. I think they are really neat little guns. I wish S&W would make a modern M frame that fired 22lr. I have only fired mine a few times with 22 shorts. Hard to find any parts if something broke

    32 HE Prices Increasing?

Although I have a few 38s and 357, IF I HAD TO CUT DOWN I could jump from the 32s to the 45s and be happy. 22lr, 32s from 32 short to 327 right to 45acp and 45 colts and I would have everything I really need. In fact except for the convience of bulk ammo n 22 lr the 32s and 45s cover it all...

Picked up a 4 Screw M53 Today- Updated, project done!

The Harvey Kay Chuck is a great little round. I made one using a model 17 barrel, reamed a model 17 cylinder and mounted them in a center fire K frame. Pretty easy to form brass from 22 hornet. Shorter about .10 the fire form to straighten the case walls.

    27-2 BBL??

I agree that it looks like the back shoulder of the barrel was turned down so that it threaded farther into the frame so it could have a new forcing cone. I have done this on eroded forcing cones and large gaps. No need to touch the muzzle. I trimmed 4 turns off the shoulder of a 4" model 53 so...

Picked up a 4 Screw M53 Today- Updated, project done!

22 Jets are fun and if you keep chambers clean and keep the velocity down on reloads they work well. The fire breathing Remington factory loads however were problematic. I bought some PPU Jet ammo right after I got my 6"53 and never had a problem with it. Bullets I have fired .222, .223 and...

Picked up a 4 Screw M53 Today- Updated, project done!

For that price you bought a model 53 22lr cylinder and the rest of the gun was free. Model 53 22lr cylinders are so hard to find and pricey I made my own by making liners for a recessed model 19 cylinder and fit a K22 ratchet to it

    Confiscated Firearms

Once again someone misses the actual point.
