    Best 45 ACP revolver model?

My favorite, a 625-2 Model of 1988; A 625-4 that doesn't shoot as well for me (yes, it's the wrong box, I know, I have the right one); I had a 625-6 5" that didn't have as good a trigger as the -2, and neither does the -4. I also have a 3" -7, but that's in 45 Colt. ;)

    Help idetifying this gun!

I had s/n 175xx, and the letter I got from S&W said it was shipped in Sept 1952. If it were mine, I'd definitely letter the one you got!

When, if ever, did you specialize?

+1 to what Allen said. Mostly I look for model numbered prelock 4" nickel N frames and prelock 625s. Most of the others have gone away, but there is the odd 19 hanging around, and an 1899, and there's a 6" M28, a couple of Bodyguards... Whatever feels good (and fits the wallet) is the answer...

    Finally I got my Md 625 3 inch'er

bravastar1, that's a sweet looking gun! I just pick up a -6 3" ACP but haven't shot it yet. On the other hand, I just saw your PC JM in another thread. That is a thing of beauty and a joy to behold! I need to find one of those.

    28-3....minty for $825 ???

The 28-3 was only made for 4 years, and at a time when the L frames were taking over. I don't know how many -3s were made, but I'm guessing that it is not a large number. Having said all that, I'd pass at $700. There are other guns that I want more. $600 would be tempting though, if I...

    NewB Question: Model of 1989?

Model 625-2 Model of 1988. S&W changed the 625 designation to Model of 1989 when they quit using the floating hand. Why not make that the -3? I dunno. Why isn't there a 625 no dash, or -1? I dunno. What I do know, is I like all them pre-lock 625s.

I would like to see your favorite K-frame grips..if you would share.

That's why I got 'em! I thought they would be good for a retro photo. Then I discovered they were great for the truck gun, and they've been on there ever since. I figure they won't drag down that Model 15 too much, as it was a (salt water) tackle box gun in another life.
