When, if ever, did you specialize?

+1 to what Allen said. Mostly I look for model numbered prelock 4" nickel N frames and prelock 625s. Most of the others have gone away, but there is the odd 19 hanging around, and an 1899, and there's a 6" M28, a couple of Bodyguards...

Whatever feels good (and fits the wallet) is the answer!

Then I took out a loan...

I like stainless steel S&W revolvers I can either carry and/or shoot. No safe queens here, everything gets used at some time. Nothing over a 4" barrel for me, lean towards snubbies with a few 3" and 4" mixed in. Lately I'm getting into .22's so I can still shoot alot and not blow a weeks pay in a few hours at the range.

Well, there you have it. I said I wish I would have collected small frame .22s, and guess what? I've never had one. Why? That damn N frame lust, of course. That sweet song of the siren driving me onto the rocks. Pardon me, I must go handle a couple of those buxom N frames to settle me down.

OK, took several bad pictures of some of the better ones. Here's a Horton 3" 624.

One more and I'll quit, I'm gettin' obnoxious. One of two mountain guns, a real favorite.

My first Smith was a 6 1/2 Model 29-2 I bought new just over 40 years ago. Since then, I bought guns that I wanted and that I thought would be a better shooter or that I would carry. Now I find that they are collector guns. I have bought a few just to put back and hold as a true "collector" might. I usually only bought shooters, and it is really hard to pass up a Model 27. Now, there are still a couple of guns I want, one being a 5" 627 with fluted 6 shot cylinder. I've seen pictures, but never one in person.

It's almost always N frames though. Good luck with your new "affliction". I tell people that buying Smiths is a mental illness!

Awwww, hell....
I like my biscuts and gravy with sausage.

I think you'll find that folks here have varying preferences. I have owned all but an X-frame, which would be fun, but expensive and useless (IMHO... no offence, smitty..)

I haven't seen too many here dispute the beauty of a model 19, or any N-frame....

Don't worry about the obsession, trust me, it's a good thing, and besides, if you want to get out from under any of your purchases, you can always give 'em to me

Thanks so much to all for the offers to relieve me of my revolvers and help w/ my sickness...
Most generous and caring of you. When I decide I want to be cured, I will let you all know.

In the meantime, I've got pictures of a few more out of the safe for later, and a line on two more N frames I hopefully can snag.
Gonna see what's at the fun show this weekend first. Ohhhh, the madness...

I have owned/own and shot/shoot several brands/types/models/calibers of handguns. Although the contents of my gun safe might be considered a "collection", all my guns are for shooting.
As far as double action revolvers go : Taurus, Colt, Ruger, S&W passed my hands. I finally settled on the latter because, well, IMHO, they're the best.
All my DA revolvers (9 of them) are S&W.

I figured I can't own them all so I focused on N frame revolvers and in the .45ACP caliber. Now have 14 different models to date. I need a .45 ACP mountain gun and would like to get a "Bloodwork" gun.

I'm kinda new at this and am having trouble "specializing". Something in each caliber maybe? Something in each frame? SS versions of my blued and wood? My favorite caliber (.357)?

I'm so confused!!

I'm a shooter and not a collector and I'm a huge fan of 4" revolvers. I've gradually eliminated the 5" and 6" guns from my little arsenal and I currently only have one revolver that is longer than 4", my 6" 686. I also seem to gravitate to .357s, and I have them in K, L, and N frames. Lately, however, I've been making little trips over to the dark side, and I just recently acquired a S & W 1911. Who knows where that will lead me

I guess I'm more of an accumulator than a collector as well, but I am partial to S&W rimfires, mostly K22's. I do have a Model 41, and a K38 though. Love to find a K32, but I just know it would be out of my price range.

More of a shooter than a collector, everthing I have gets shot.
I try to set some back, but why let somebody else have all the fun. Stumbled on a LNIB 5" 29-2 last winter, like a dummy I've been packing and shooting it.... it's been a blast.
I've got it bad for Mountain Guns, but there are some K-22's and .22 kit guns around here too.

Ben,
There is no end to the madness.
I like the Texas guns and as of lately the Bling Bling of engraved guns have caught my eye.
Lord help us all.

Welcome to the madness,
BB
