New Python vs. trend in Smith, Ruger

A few people have posted that they think the price is right, and that they are buying the 2020 Python as a shooter. If there had never been a Python and this 2020 version were the first, the $1,499 price still be "right"? I would argue that Colt is getting away with this price because of the...

    Gunbroker Python for $75k

I've done something similar before, but on a much smaller scale. I have a lot of collecting interests, some involving very esoteric antique sports photography. There are a few very obscure items that I know exist in very small numbers and will eventually show up but that I also know I may not...

    '89 version 627 or 2020 Python?

Tough question. I have a 6.5" pre-model 27 and it is weighted and balanced better for me than my 6" Python, and I have not been too crazy about the 5" N-frame Heavy Duties I've shot. Now, if the question was would I rather spend $750 on a 6" 686-6 or $1,499 on a 6" 2020 Python, I would take...

    What is your Favorite Gun?

I look forward to re-reading this entire thread when I have more time. The OP's selection is great. I was also intrigued by the 4" HP with stags - .357's are my favorite and I think the HP does not get enough respect. After looking at all the beautiful polished blue revolvers, the HP's matte...

    2020 Colt Python

I thought those were only made in .38 special.

    2020 Colt Python

Well-said. I paid market price for a 98% 1970 blued 6" Python a while back. I had several valid (for me) reasons for buying it and I'm still happy with the gun, regardless of how many posts I read that imply I made a poor decision. I shoot it, and I clean it. I never have thought of it as an...

    .22/32 fun at the range

Thanks for all the recommendations - I look forward to an early 2020 revolver search to check out some of these recommendations.

    .22/32 fun at the range

I have a 4" 19-3 that I can shoot as much as I want with .357. I would have thought a shorter barrel SS M66 would be okay, but my hands are weaker than average so I'll resist such temptations.

    .22/32 fun at the range

Took these two out to the range for the first time last week. I mistakenly thought the 3" 60-15 .357 would be fun to shoot and planned on giving it to my gf. That would have been a big mistake. I knew the .22 would be pleasant. The .357 was anything but pleasant - 5 rounds of .357 were hell...

    5 Screw pre 27

I knew I was paying a little too much for my 6.5" pre-27 (~$950 with incorrect S&W grips), but an extremely nasty dirty revolver cleaned up well, I found appropriate S&W targets and it ended up being my most accurate and favorite .357, and still is. If you aren't worried about selling it...

    Favorite Gun(s) Acquired in 2019

That registered magnum is really nice. I assume you saw where #643 with similar Roper stocks, sold on GB Sunday. I watch these every Sunday and can never 'pull the trigger'. So far my favorite two 2019 purchases are Colts, but I'm expecting this 1938 .22/32 that arrives Thursday to give them...

The stunning beauty of vintage SW stocks

I like the old walnut much better than the shiny goncola alves. I think the wood itself is nicer, and the shiny finish on the newer stocks just makes it worse. The first thing I do with 70's-80's keeper GA stocks is strip off the shiny finish and apply something that doesn't hide the...

    Price check: 19-3

I have a 4" nickel, nice shape with box and papers, that ran me $575 total at auction in January. They are great little guns - I'm feeling like I "need" a blued one - nothing wrong with close duplicates.

Very mixed up American Riflemen magazine!

Mine is fine. I flip through mine each month and rarely read more than one article. It's not a horrible magazine, but if I'm sitting back to read, I have many better choices lying about. (Mine was published as intended)

    686

Nice acquisition. I'm curious how these older 686's shoot without trigger jobs. After about 450 rounds through my 686-6 I got a trigger job and it's now one of my favorites to fire. Considering getting an earlier one.

    Withdrawn: pre-28 Highway Patrolman

Bump. I took 12 new photos of the Wolf & Klar .44 special. Send your email if you are interested in seeing them. In addition to the S&W Jinks letter, it also comes with a copy of the 1927 invoice.
