Love it! That's keeper with a capital 'K!' Have you checked for the 'M' stamping on the frame underneath the crane/yoke that indicates 125gr Mag loads are good to go? If I may ask, what were the other 'keepers?'

Only sentiment keeps me from saying that the L frame Smiths are the very top of the list for .357 revolvers. (most of my life I have owned K frames but I know in my heart that they are not as strong as Ls). I have 1 4" no dash and 2 6"- a no dash and a -4 along with a newer -6 pro series. All shoot better than I can, at my current state of decomposition. But the 4" (like yours) is the pistol that I shoot better than anything else I own, with the possible exception of my ancient Gold Cup. You got a great shooter and a plus to any Smith collection! Congrats!

Great revolver. And they shoot like a dream. I'm with GB, among my 686's, the 4" is the best from shootability and balance. (to me)

I will check for the stamp when I get home from hunting. Keeping another 686 and 18-4 both with Millet sights and Hogue grips and a Colt Match Target 4.5".

Nice acquisition. I'm curious how these older 686's shoot without trigger jobs. After about 450 rounds through my 686-6 I got a trigger job and it's now one of my favorites to fire. Considering getting an earlier one.
