Lock up issue with new 686

A brand new S&W should not have an extractor that is that rough, timing should be spot on when slow cocking, no excuses, whether loaded or empty, a properly timed gun is just that. Call Smith , calmly explain your problem, offer to email a pic of the extractor and ask them to send a pickup label...

    Can you say "Bullpup"

suggestion This looks great to me. I really like bull-pups. I have a suggestion,an extended railed for-end to the rear of the flash hider so you can move the front sight forward and move the rear sight to a usable spot. This does not have to be full 360* unit but slant cut/radius from front to...

    How well does Unique meter

Unique is my std powder for 9mm,38 spec., 45 acp, I have had nearly perfect metering in thousands of rounds loaded with my Dillon 650 set up. The newer Unique power burns much cleaner and fully then the 70's and 80's powder.

Wolff "Power Rib" Type 2 reduced power Mainsprings

I used to narrow and polish the main springs and shorten the rebound springs on all my S&W target revolvers, a fairly labor intensive job to get them just right. Now I just order Wolff's #2 kits and I am very happy with the outcome . I may still polish lightly here and there, but most of the...

Matte Nickle 1911- What to do with finish

I have a Colt Combat Commander that I had refinished in electroless nickel by Nitex in Texas about 1980 , they were I believe the first to offer this finish on guns. The Commander had been carried for years after the refinish and shot innumerable times, the finish is still better then 95%, and...

    686 ssr

Quote by 1520market "The action job is what I was thinking about. The cost is worth it. Did you feel the ssr was all that when you bought it, or did it grow on you?" My SSR was love at first sight, and feel. It was sweet, just as it should have been right out of the box. I also have a std 4"...

    686 ssr

Is it new or used? The reason I ask is my ssr is silky smooth, great let off, and no problem with trigger return, both single and double action, bought new 1 year ago. I really can't see changing over to doa doing much to improve what your complaints are about. you can have a complete action...

    .22 LR to .22 mag.

no problem in modifying the 22lr to 22 mag. I have done the same to a mod. 34 cylinder with great success . You just need the proper reamer, and a qualified person to do it.

    mod 41 ext. frt. site

I have a NOS extendable front sight rib for the mod. 41. I am looking to put a price on it to try and sell at the next gun show I go to. Any 41 experts on here that can give me a fair value? I know replacements are not easy to find, and the need for them are probably not too frequent , but...

    S&W stainless 12 ga. model 916a

I too have this "special" 916a , it may look like s/s but is actually a "nickel" plated finish, and most have a gold colored trigger. these were made at the end of this shotguns manufacturing run. Mine is the riot model with extended magazine. They are a very basic shotgun, not the best...

    FTF with 22 LR v. 22 mag

Hired gun-- I must say 250,000 rounds is impressive, but to say most ftf's are due to dirty or improperly cared for guns is I believe a bit too much for me to believe. NOW let me explain...I too have fired untold thousands of 22's over the last 45 years And I take very good care of all my guns...
