About to replace a well worn and bent ejector rod on a Model 19 no dash. I was wondering if just the ejector rod can be replaced or does a new center pin and spring also have to be ordered as well? Any tips on this operation would be greatly appreciated!

if your just replacing the forward outer section of the "rod" , thats all you should need unless of course the inner rod is also bent

Thanks, I think it is as well. The gun is a 19 no dash but the numbers show it was made in '61. Most I have seen from that era are -1s.

THere's a youtube video make by Midway that details how to straighten an ejector rod. Whether you want to straighten or replace, it has some good info that is well worth viewing BEFORE you start.

I'll check it out. I am looking to replace, its well worn and looks as if a previous owner already tried to straighten with a Vice Grip and left marks all over it.

A 19 no-dash should be right-hand threads, but 1961 should be left-handed. The way to tell is look at the knurled portion of the rod. If the smooth part of the rod and the knurling run right against each other it is right-handed. If there is an obvious groove between the knurling and smooth portion of the rod then it is left-handed.

If yours is right-handed, lots of luck finding a replacement. You will probably have to send it back to S&W to replace the extractor with a left-handed one.
