Last time I checked my best shooting 686 had a gap of .010.

There is only one answer to this question, get both! That's what I did and I'm happy with both. And no I don't really like one better than the other. They are both great and I enjoy shooting both of them.

I really like the look of that 4" full underlug 629 that stu1ritter has.

I would buy a 6.5" and have the barrel cut to 4". Shouldn't be to hard to get done.

I almost always point the finger at not drinking enough water. Even if you think you are drinking enough a lot of the times you probably aren't. In the summer when the temps are up I usually drink about 4 liters a day, and I'm not a big guy.
