    Grips for a 629

I'm a big fan of the Eagle Secret Service grips. I purchased four sets last year, all Select grade rosewood, with nickel hardware. Average cost was $270 each, so not an inexpensive choice. I also like Hogue Hardwood grips, as they are available with either full fingergrooves, single...

Refinished Target Stocks Possibly By David Wayland

Very nice grips by Mr. Wayland! While I lived and worked in Lake County, California, from 1983 until I retired in 2005, I had heard about Mr. Wayland. I contacted him and had him make some grips for me. This was after he moved from southern California to Marin County, above San Francisco...

“Cokes” on a pre-27? Letter confirms!

Those cokes look like GA to me, too. I don't recall seeing cokes made of Walnut, though there is mention that some exist. Anyone have a picture of Walnut cokes?

Dirty Harry snag...righteous grips??? see post 13 for the rest of the story

IMO the stocks on your gun were swapped out by a previous owner, however, as has been noted above, anything is possible with Smith & Wesson. If you letter the gun you might confirm one way or the other. Nice gun!

If you could only pick 2 ultimate classics

My ultimate classic revolvers would be a Model 58 in Nickel and a Model 520 (the original). Thankfully, I have both, like new in box.

    Model 27-2 Screwdriver

Yes, technically, the nomenclature identifies the SAT as a sight adjustment tool. However, it is a screw, when driven, that moves the rear slight slide to adjust for windage.

13-2 TH & Grooved Service Trigger-Question/comments please. (Photos)

If the revolver came from the factory with the target hammer, it was surely a special order gun. It is much more likely that a former owner had the hammer changed out due to personal preference. Fixed sight guns never were equipped with target hammers and triggers as standard equipment. If...

    15-3 with gold lettering?

Some commemoratives from Smith & Wesson did have gold filled stampings, such as the original Texas Ranger set, and the Texas Wagon Train model.

    The 12 Revolvers

Because of the ornate engraving on the sideplates unique to each gun in the set.

    The 12 Revolvers

I always thought the 12-gun set was quite a gimmick and intended for hardcore niche S&W collectors with very deep pockets. I would never buy one of these guns, preferring instead to buy the unadulterated version. YMMV.

Cross Draw Holster for K-38 CM

I have two of these; one for K/L frame and one for N frame. The quality and construction is top notch and the price is definitely right. Leather CROSS DRAW Holster - S&W K or L Frame Revolver 4" Barrel (# 7710 BRN) | eBay

    27-2 5” Nickel

If you want one "like new in box, with docs and tools", you are looking at $1500 minimum, more realistically $1700 to $1800.

57 is finally here// Now with Range Report

The only 3-inch 41 Mag from Smith & Wesson is the 657, unless I'm missing something. Is that a typo?

please give idea on value model 14-4

The price tag shows that this is a very good deal if all the mechanics check out. I'd buy it at that price, even though I am not in the market for one. You will never lose money on that one at that price!

please give idea on value model 14-4

Original grips would be checkered walnut magnas with medallions. Just the gun with standard appointments, minus the original grips, box, and docs, in the condition you describe, I'd say $600 on the low end, and $750 on the high end.
