I have acquired a recessed/counter-bored 13-2 with a NON-pinned 4" barrel. Guessing this was manufactured in 1980/81 timeframe.

It has a wide "Target" Hammer (~0.500" wide spur) and a "Service"/"Semi-Target" grooved-face (serrations) trigger (~0.27 wide).

I understand various factory options were available, but this hammer/trigger combination seems a bit odd on a fixed sight Model 13.

Any thoughts on the likelihood of this being factory or aftermarket modifications?

(Recently applied for S&WHF and S&WCA membership-waiting for approval before requesting a Letter of Authenticity, which may shed additional light on this.)

Thanks, Roy

If the revolver came from the factory with the target hammer, it was surely a special order gun. It is much more likely that a former owner had the hammer changed out due to personal preference.

Fixed sight guns never were equipped with target hammers and triggers as standard equipment. If you see such a gun, it was a special order or, more likely, the parts were changed after shipment.
