    Age of a New/Old Model 28 w/ "S" serial number

Frame age What no one has said in this thread is your N frame with that serial number was made in the 1967-68 year range. When it shipped could be much later. Smith made N frames without barrels and cylinders in advance. Put them in vault until needed for 357, 41M, etc, pulled X amount of...

    Sad News

Peanut bites back I see from the story that Chad posted that Peanut got a bite in on one of the confiscators before they put him down. Rage against the man, Peanut!

    A Couple .45s

Older by 2 I just purchased the 25 pictured below a couple of months ago. It's only a couple of frames older than yours in the same model! Roy sent that it shipped in May of 1960, yours should be the same or real close.

    Interesting movie trailer

Subtitles Will definitely be watching this once it hits a place where I can turn on subtitles. Could not understand half the dialogue in the trailer.

I Bet I Shot The Reload In The Oldest Case This Week

Its good you can still bend over to pick them up. Unless you were tunning it through a revolver?

Give them 200 gr of Pb and call morgue in morning

Play on words from the old doctor saw "Take 2 aspirin and call me in the morning". I have found these large pill bottles that my wife's Metformin comes in to be the perfect size for (4) moon clips of 45 Auto. They fit nicely in my roller range bag, under the guns grips. Have seen others post...

    CZ-52 Czech Military Sidearm

Original Planet of the Apes Quite a few apes carried the CZ52 in the original POA movie. I have one, replaced the floating firing pin with a new design pin with spring that I got from Makarov.com when they still sold parts. Roller action makes this gun very strong which it had to be to shoot...

    When Pigs Fly

Pigs are flying indeed Been in several antique/flea market stores in nowhere TX myself and have never seen a gun that was fire able for sale. Seen several wall hangers, coun tless boxes of old ammo (at highly inflated prices), but not an operable gun. A couple of random observations on these...

    Dark Winds and the .44

New to series Just finished the first season and watched first episode of second season last night. A couple of things that struck me, Leaphorn's 29 seems to only have the six loaded cartridges. Last episode first season he dropped a few in the fire and then only had the ones left in the gun...

    Potentially, an unpopular question!

7.62 x 39 One not posted, I have about half Winchester 7.62 x 39 with SRP and the other half is mixed headstamps with LRP. Most is indoor range pickups from AK's. My 7.62 x 39 is on a PSA build of an AR, the AK's sure do beat the hell out of their brass, my AR, not much at all. Just started...

    First SpaceX, now...

Too late for my brother. He was with Gulf officing in downtown Houston when Chevron acquired them and was told he still had a job, in CA! Now they are coming here, of course my brother retired 5 years ago and got a better job closer to his house when he was let go. Guess it worked out OK.

    My "Man Cave"

My room Not a cave, just "my" room, my decorating and my mess. No 1895 to 1965 in this pic, that's a 610-2 on the arm of the chair, was checking trigger pull on it when I took picture and forget it was there;)

    Anyone have a Taurus TX22?

Taurus and KelTec I don't have a Sig for comparison purposes, but I have a TX22 that I have put about 500 rds. of mixed ammo through at an indoor range. Maybe one or 2 slow feeds (required a bump to rear of slide to go into battery) when gun has had more than 3 or mags run through it. Out of...

My Hackensack Luger (Stoeger .22 Luger)

Got one Mine will normally shoot every other mag without stoppage but does require a bit of a helping hand on the toggle to go into battery when it does stop. Don't think I have ever experienced an ejection jam, all feed related. I have shot mine so much the plastic round cocking "handles"...

    Python Question

I am my own gunsmith-call me Bubba Lite As the title says. When I buy a gun, if I don't like something about it, I do what I can to fix to my standards, if I can't get it there-then off to sell it goes. Retired at the end of last year with 40 yrs at same job. My company got me a Rolex, my...

    M 625- 45ACP roll call

New to me Got this one from GB, Seller listed that he had cleaned up the gun. When they did the cleaning they took the darkened finish off the visible parts of the hammer and trigger, see left picture. Had side plate cover off and the non-visible parts have a dark phosphate type coating-not...

Everyone in S Texas ready for Beryl?

In Cypress Northwest of Houston by 25 odd miles. Winds are pushing things around at 7:45 CST. Lost power and Jennie (my Generac) is keeping the home up since 20 minutes ago. We just had 70+ MPH straight line winds a month ago and Jennie ran for 36 hours while the transmission towers were...

    Age of revolver

I recently picked up an N frame with the serial number of S1971XX. I have what I think is a 1958 (my birth year) 28 with serial number of S1939XX. I have lost my electronic copy of manufacture dates, can anyone confirm this as a 1958 or is it 1959, or tell me if I'm wrong on both :)
