Looks like Beryl will strengthen again over the Gulf and come ashore near Corpus Christi some time Sunday night. Time to lay in the bottled water, snacks, and sandbags I reckon.

hang in there those in the path. Never lived in the areas prone to hurricanes but all my life I have lived in tornado prone areas. Don't forget the toilet paper.

We are hoping for enough rain to kill the drought but not so much that would do flood damage.
Think we will be ok as long as it
stays a cat 1 and does not track any more
eastward.
As a precaution I did book us a room on the seawall
for Sunday night.
Storm surge is hard to predict don't want to lose my truck.

I lived in Houston - Pasadena From the time I was 6 months old in 44 until I was 76 in 2O2O. I remember a few names... Carla, Camille, Ike to name a few. I guess I never did get used to the stress and anxiety of hurricane season. even if we didn't get hit we were always under the gun. I will keep y'all in my thoughts and prayers.

What's amazing is the eye is predicted to pass almost directly over me all the way up here in Central Arkansas. A storm that originated off the coast of Africa, then crossed the entire Atlantic Ocean, is bringing 2-4 inches of rain all the way to Arkansas! Mother Nature is one mean ole gal!
Frankly, I will take anything that breaks this heat. It has been unbelievable so far this summer.

Here in the hills we had 1.4" late yesterday afternoon.

Beryl is clearly visible on the NWS radars at Corpus Christi and near Galveston. There looks to be lots of rain hitting the coast in the Bay City to Lake Jackson area. If I'm any judge of movement of the storm, the eye will make landfall close to Bay City.
The numbers for Beryl show some strengthening towards Cat 1 hurricane levels. The central pressure is dropping and the wind has picked up some.

well, the Cat 1 landed near Matagorda, and heading to Houston, 5:30 right now, winds in Houston are over 40mph and rising. hope everyone is safe.

Northwest of Houston by 25 odd miles. Winds are pushing things around at 7:45 CST. Lost power and Jennie (my Generac) is keeping the home up since 20 minutes ago. We just had 70+ MPH straight line winds a month ago and Jennie ran for 36 hours while the transmission towers were replaced wired around. So far home weather station has shown highest wind gust of 53 with sustained showing 30-40. Eyewall is supposed to pass right over the top of us, but storm will be gone by 6PM CST. No street flooding here as yet.

About 6 inches of rain, loss of power for 7 hours and some gusty winds at low Cat 1 level, Beryl seems to be leaving us behind. Had some minor street flooding up to the top of the curbs and we lost a 4 inch branch off the button bush tree in the back yard. Lots of small tree detritus to be raked up tomorrow. Gonna go take a nap now that the AC is working again. Hope anyone else who was in its path does at least as well as we did.
We, here in North Texas, are getting our share of the rain right now. Sounds like choir music coming from the garden.
My aunt Mona had a cherry farm in Bracken County, KY. Dad would often take us down to visit, help divest her of cherry pies and cobblers and sleep upstairs under her tin roof.
No more comforting sound in the world to my way of thinking.
